10 things to do and be effective

An advantage we all have is the ability to control what we do each day. We can improve our productivity, or not! You decide.  In too many cases, we are the only ones who know when we are falling short of our best level of performance. It’s no surprise that many managers have no idea  regarding the difference between mediocrity and excellence.

clip_image001Effective people have the Key to the secret of success, which is to “Take Action”  Like many of the top performers!    You must keep your driving the pace until  you take flight.

Here are 10 things that effective people do

  • clip_image003Starting early. Sam Walton arrived to work at 3 am. Perhaps a little early for many of us, but we need to get an early start. “The early Bird”
  • Accepting good and bad news as part of moving on!  As you progress up the ladder, you will be in the line of fire, so remember who you pass on the way up!  Because what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.
  • Having a long term perspective. Never thinking about short term gains, thus focusing on building a strong successful foundation success.
  • Avoiding the petty and uninteresting information.  It is counterproductive to spread rumours, be disrespectful or talk bad about colleagues and never criticizing management. Its much better to focus on the task ahead and the results it will bring.
  • Always be professional. Do not lose control. You want others to describe you as a “professional person.” This is the compliment we all strive for thus reaching an important milestone.
  • Focusing on the key areas that bring the results you are aiming for!  At the next meeting, observe and study the leaders of your organization and how they focus on what the important issues are. They have the ability to identify the problems as the professionals they are.
  • Treating others with respect, we are not better, but we have a different look on matters and may have accomplished more in certain areas, we must always appreciate what others bring to the table.
  • Be humble, we do not know everything. We must be open to working in teams.  When we put our minds together, we can tackle enormous projects, which lead to huge benefits for the organization.
  • Confront problems!  Address immediately. Those who are excellent performers are aware of small problems and prevent them from escalating. Taking a proactive approach is preferred.
  • Be committed to sharing the wealth and knowledge. Rewarding those who do well, as we are not solely responsible for the huge accomplishments. Be humble, and praise others publicly and privately when they contribute to our goals and initiatives.
  • Successful people are extraordinary in the sense that they understand the importance of knowledge, commitment, and humility. The process to greatness is well established but realizing it requires significant effort.

7 Paths to the Life of Your Dreams

Sheri FinkIf I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

Be your authentic self. Be true to yourself always. Don’t worry what other people will think. March to the beat of your own unique drum and do the things that make you happy. Magical things happen when you’re following your passions, the things that you really love in life.

Surround yourself with people who inspire you. Always seek to be around people who amplify your energy. After interacting with them, you’ll feel uplifted and excited about life. Look for this reaction when considering friends, coaches, business partners, mentors, clients, Mastermind Group members, etc.

Practice blissful thinking. Dream the biggest dream you can and then make it even bigger. Visualize the most amazing life you can imagine… then multiply it by 10! It should be so huge that it simultaneously scares and excites you, inspiring you to really go for it. Don’t play small in life, go for what you really want and deserve.

De-clutter your life. Let go of anyone, anything, any opportunity, event, activity, obligation, etc. that no longer serves you or fits into your vision for your ultimate life. Anything that drains your energy must go. Amazing things will come when you create the space for them in your home, your business, your schedule, and your life. When in doubt, throw it out.

"Figuring out what you want and what will help you become successful in your life is the first step in overcoming your fear of failure." Dr. Steve G. Jones

Trust your intuition/inner voice. We are all equipped with an inner guidance system. Practice getting in touch with your inner self and listen for the whispers of your soul. Sitting in silence and enjoying nature is a great way to deepen your connection with your inner voice. When you receive an intuitive nudge, take inspired action as soon as possible and watch the magic that unfolds before you.

Choose to amplify love, joy, and kindness in the world and trust that it will be reflected back to you. Sometimes it can feel like we’re bombarded by negativity. Break the chain and refuse to be a part of it. Discontinue blaming, complaining, gossiping, and rationalizing. It’s a waste of your energy. Associate with people, places, things, and events that make you feel good and fill you with hope and joy. Champion the people who are making a positive difference in the world. Amplifying the positive will enhance your life and the lives of everyone around you.

Acting from a place of Love is a choice we get to make each dayKeep taking action in the direction of your dreams. It’s normal to feel nervous or scared when trying something new. If you feel pulled to pursue something, honour that feeling and continue taking action toward your goal despite your fears and doubts. You’ll never know until you try.

When you commit to living the life of your dreams, you’ll feel good knowing that you’re working toward a challenge that’s worthy of your efforts. Above all, do what makes you happy and enjoy this exciting journey!

From Rhonda Byrne “The Secret”

How can you make a big dream come true?

You need to have one secret element, and when you have that secret element, nothing will get in your way. That element is an intense desire! You must desire something with all of your heart to manifest it. Often the difference between those who manifest something and those who do not, is the element of desire. When you have a burning desire for something you ignite a fire within you that attracts with an incredible force. The law of attraction is magnetically drawn to that intense fire element in you, and it responds by gathering all universal forces to make your dream come true.

Very often we ask for things because we think our life will be better with those things, but inside of us we do not have an immense desire for those things. When you don’t feel that immense desire within you, you are receiving guidance telling you that this is not something you really want. That is why it is so important to get clear on what it is that you really want with all of your heart, because what you really want with all of your heart is the very desire that you can manifest quickly.

When your heart is on fire with desire you will attract the right things to do, you will find visualizing so easy, and you will find it is effortless to think positive thoughts of your desire. You will attract all the qualities you need, such as strength, courage, belief, persistence, faith, and a powerful will. An intense desire lights up your being, producing a magnetic force that enables the law of attraction to cut through every physical obstacle for you and make your dream come true.

Go for your dreams! Don’t cheat yourself in your life with petty desires because you don’t think you can live your dream. THE DREAM inside you is the one thing that you have the greatest power to create, because you have an immense desire for it. Find the dream inside you – and make it come true!

Successful Networker To Change Think Bigger

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit. Aristotle

The problem with thinking too big…

If a dream is not worth waking up tow minutes earlier for then it is probably not hte right dream"Dream big. Reach for the stars. The only limit is in your mind." How often do you hear these words? We’re filled with the power of positive mantras in motivational texts, books, and seminars. The problem with expansive thinking, however, is that too big can be just as much of a problem.

The problem of thinking too big, however,

is that you’ll forget to get started.

Or you’ll become afraid of getting started.

The more you dream, the bigger it becomes, the harder it can be to begin. And sometimes, dreaming can get in the way of taking action. Over time, the practice of not starting becomes the best habit you have—another day to practice not starting, not doing anything.

Action is difficult. Deciding is painful. Manifestation, by definition, requires limitation. In order to make something real, you need to carve out and throw out all of the possible ways that something will not be. To make requires substance and grounding. It requires physicality and reality. It inherently means you limit the dream.

As you sketch your dreams for your life and career, you can have multiple jobs. You can own multiple businesses. Make multiple projects. But dwelling in dream land can hinder action.

The longer you hold onto an idea, the more the idea becomes a part of your identity, and the more wrapped up you become in making sure that idea is what will become the reality. The more goal-oriented and dream-oriented, the harder it gets to start. And if you hold on for too long, that idea of perfect execution becomes so big and monstrous, that if you take action—especially if you take action and fail—you’ll have killed or damaged part of your identity, part of what you’re yearning and hoping for. By chasing the dream with action, you put yourself in a scary place: a place where you might not get what you want.

Making dreams become real is a scary business. Ignorance can be a blessing. You sidestep the part where you get distracted by all of your fears of failure because you haven’t been able to imagine them yet.

Sometimes hope and patience can turn a dream into an enormous mental glorification, resulting in the worst sin of all:

Not starting. Specifically, not starting because of fear of failure. Because if you fail, you’re not what you thought you would be. Our minds get in the way sometimes.

Get started. Big-picture thinking has its place. So does action. Sometimes you have to get out of your head, into the world, into the making, and start testing. Start building. Make a small thing, make a bunch of mistakes, shake it off, keep going. Over time, you can iterate. Test a couple ideas.

Worry less about getting there and more about being here. But if you don’t start—you won’t go anywhere.

Do something.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.            Ralph Waldo Emerson

Looking for the sure thing

It’s been done before, sorry.

It’s never been done before, too risky.

It’s too obvious.

It’s too obscure.

It’s too easy, everyone can do it.

It’s too hard to launch, it’ll never work.

Too indie, why can’t you get backers?

Too mainstream, the man has polluted you, you sold out.

It’s never been practiced, you’ll do it wrong.

You’ve practiced it too much, it can’t possibly be fresh.

Not here, this city/market/audience is too jaded.

Not here, this city/market/audience is untested.

The market has peaked, nothing goes up forever.

The market is dead, it’ll never catch on…

Most bestsellers are surprise bestsellers, because there’s no sure thing, at least not where we want to look for it.
