Your Key to Success & Leadership Development

Your Key to Success & Leadership Development

You have to make mistakes to find out who you aren’t. You take the action, and the insight follows: You don’t think your way into becoming yourself.” —  Anne Lamott

10 things to do and be effective

An advantage we all have is the ability to control what we do each day. We can improve our productivity, or not! You decide.  In too many cases, we are the only ones who know when we are falling short of our best level of performance. It’s no surprise that many managers have no idea  regarding the difference between mediocrity and excellence.

clip_image001Effective people have the Key to the secret of success, which is to “Take Action”  Like many of the top performers!    You must keep your driving the pace until  you take flight.

Here are 10 things that effective people do

  • clip_image003Starting early. Sam Walton arrived to work at 3 am. Perhaps a little early for many of us, but we need to get an early start. “The early Bird”
  • Accepting good and bad news as part of moving on!  As you progress up the ladder, you will be in the line of fire, so remember who you pass on the way up!  Because what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.
  • Having a long term perspective. Never thinking about short term gains, thus focusing on building a strong successful foundation success.
  • Avoiding the petty and uninteresting information.  It is counterproductive to spread rumours, be disrespectful or talk bad about colleagues and never criticizing management. Its much better to focus on the task ahead and the results it will bring.
  • Always be professional. Do not lose control. You want others to describe you as a “professional person.” This is the compliment we all strive for thus reaching an important milestone.
  • Focusing on the key areas that bring the results you are aiming for!  At the next meeting, observe and study the leaders of your organization and how they focus on what the important issues are. They have the ability to identify the problems as the professionals they are.
  • Treating others with respect, we are not better, but we have a different look on matters and may have accomplished more in certain areas, we must always appreciate what others bring to the table.
  • Be humble, we do not know everything. We must be open to working in teams.  When we put our minds together, we can tackle enormous projects, which lead to huge benefits for the organization.
  • Confront problems!  Address immediately. Those who are excellent performers are aware of small problems and prevent them from escalating. Taking a proactive approach is preferred.
  • Be committed to sharing the wealth and knowledge. Rewarding those who do well, as we are not solely responsible for the huge accomplishments. Be humble, and praise others publicly and privately when they contribute to our goals and initiatives.
  • Successful people are extraordinary in the sense that they understand the importance of knowledge, commitment, and humility. The process to greatness is well established but realizing it requires significant effort.

The key to using the law of attraction is within your four powers

· Life presents everything to you for you to choose what you love.

· If someone has something you want, be as excited as though you have it. If you feel love for it, you are bringing the same thing to you.

· When you see the thing you want, you are on the same frequency as those things!

· Life’s catalogue contains things you don’t love, so don’t choose them by giving bad feelings.

· Turn away from the things you don’t love and don’t give them any feeling. Instead say yes when you see something you love.

· The law of attraction is responding to your feelings! It’s only what you give that counts. The Law of Attraction – is the law of you.

· Give judgement and criticism and you give it to yourself. Give love and appreciation to another person or anything, and you give it to yourself.

· When people see a lack of anything, it’s simply a lack of love.

· You are good enough now. If you have done something that wasn’t right, your realisation and acceptance of it is absolution for the law of attraction.

· It’s you beliefs, true, or untrue, that form your world.

· Your imagination is more real than the world you see, because the world you see comes from what you imagine and believe! What you believe and feel to be true is what will be your life.

· Whatever story you tell, good or bad, will be the story of your life. So start telling the story of your amazing life, and the law of attraction must make sure you receive it.

As you change your past in your mind, you change your vibration and begin to draw to yourself a new future… It does not matter if this was your “Real Past”; your subconscious mind does not know the difference. It will draw circumstances to you that match your imagined past. – Orin

Go to the feelings, and in the acceptance of the feelings, the release begins….The emotion comes and goes. What you need is the willingness to sit with yourself and discover this. – Bartholamew

If I could share 500 words of wisdom to summarize what I’ve learned so far in life, these are the important things I’d want to pass along to others…

In today’s culture of instant gratification where everything is available at the touch of a button and success is measured in viral terms, we tend to dismiss anything that doesn’t result in instantaneous, mega success. So what happens if your dreams appear too big, too difficult or too impossible to attain?

I am a dreamer and I believe that everyone who has a dream should pursue it and discover the possibilities that exist in the process.

A dream, that "strongly desired goal or purpose," usually applies to something better than what you have. You live in a shack and dream of one day living in a big beautiful house. A waitress fantasizes about owning her own restaurant; a high school athlete aspires to play in the NBA; a copy editor wants to write that best-selling novel. One person desires to travel the world, another to attend college or become a doctor.

The list goes on with dreams as varied as there are individuals, but they all indicate a strong desire to be somewhere, do or have something that seems totally unattainable.

Dreams give a sense of direction, something to reach for. The problem is most people talk about their dream and do nothing about it. When I spoke of going back to college as an adult to complete my bachelor’s degree, several of my friends indicated their desire to go back to school as well. I graduated several years ago while they never attempted to even register at a university.

I have dreams that came fully true; some that came partially true and some that never materialized, but I keep dreaming. Some of my life’s desires were fulfilled purely as a blessing from God. I did nothing to set the circumstances that put them in motion.

However, in most cases if you really want something, you have to reach for it by taking the necessary steps in the direction of achieving it. Like Walt Disney said, "Dreams can come true… if we have the courage to pursue them."

A lot of people are deterred by the fact that not all dreams become reality, and fail to consider the benefits of acting on theirs. Reaching for those inner desires in your heart gives you something to strive for, and helps you set goals for yourself. Following your passion keeps you actively engaged. The effort stretches you and empowers you.

Consequently, even if you don’t reach your intended target, you’ll still be further ahead than where you were. Les Brown, the motivational speaker, says it best, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars."

I say follow your dreams and keep the faith. Sometimes, however, the blessing may not be in the intended destination but rather in the process that makes your life considerably richer and so much more interesting.

Dream! Believe and achieve! But most of all enjoy the adventure and the wonderful journey that is life, for following the vision in your heart keeps your spirit alive.

You just might be the miracle someone is looking for today.
Remember that every single moment has a miracle of possibility.
If I am present to the moment, something I know, something I can share, something I can give or some way I can presence love can actually bring a miracle in a moment that I am sharing with someone.
I encourage you to walk through this day remembering that you just might be the miracle someone is looking for today. Here’s To Miracles, Mary Morrissey
