Five top tips to starting a successful business

The fastest way to receive is to give, because giving starts the reciprocal action of receiving. We all receive according to how much we give. Give the best of you everywhere you go. Give a smile. Give thanks. Give kindness. Give love. Your giving should be a giving without expectation of return – a giving for the sheer joy of it. May the joy be with you, Rhonda Byrne The Secret… bringing joy to billions

This message is from one of the greats in the world of successful business people Sir Richard Branson

As LinkedIn is a business that started in a living room, much like Virgin began in a basement, I thought my first blog on the site should be about how to simply start a successful business. Here are five top tips I’ve picked up over the years.

1. Listen more than you talk

Busy-more-than-one-phone_thumb3We have two ears and one mouth, using them in proportion is not a bad idea! To be a good leader you have to be a great listener. Brilliant ideas can spring from the most unlikely places, so you should always keep your ears open for some shrewd advice. This can mean following online comments as closely as board meeting notes, or asking the frontline staff for their opinions as often as the CEOs. Get out there, listen to people, draw people out and learn from them.

2. Keep it simple

You have to do something radically different to stand out in business. But nobody ever said different has to be complex. There are thousands of simple business solutions to problems out there, just waiting to be solved by the next big thing in business. Maintain a focus upon innovation, but don’t try to reinvent the wheel. A simple change for the better is far more effective than five complicated changes for the worse.

3. Take pride in your work

Believe-with-all-of-your-heart-that-[2]Last week I enjoyed my favourite night of the year, the Virgin Stars of the Year Awards, where we celebrated some of those people who have gone the extra mile for us around the Virgin world. With so many different companies, nationalities and personalities represented under one roof, it was interesting to see what qualities they all have in common. One was pride in their work, and in the company they represent. Remember your staff are your biggest brand advocates, and focusing on helping them take pride will shine through in how they treat your customers.

4. Have fun, success will follow

If you aren’t having fun, you are doing it wrong. If you feel like getting up in the morning to work on your business is a chore, then it’s time to try something else. If you are having a good time, there is a far greater chance a positive, innovative atmosphere will be nurtured and your business will flourish. A smile and a joke can go a long way, so be quick to see the lighter side of life.

5. Rip it up and start again

If you are an entrepreneur and your first venture isn’t a success, welcome to the club! Every successful businessperson has experienced a few failures along the way – the important thing is how you learn from them. Don’t allow yourself to get disheartened by a setback or two, instead dust yourself off and work out what went wrong. Then you can find the positives, analyse where you can improve, rip it up and start again.

Be a successful Business person it is what you deserve, Networking or another type of business, all is available to those who work at their ideas..

A burning desire to be and to do is the starting point from which the dreamer must take off.
Many years ago, the commencement speaker at a prestigious university asked all members of the graduating class who had a definite plan for their lives to hold up their hands. As he looked around the room, only three hands were raised. Twenty-five years later, when the class held a reunion, the combined net worth of those three individuals exceeded that of the remainder of the class. People who know where they are going, always achieve far greater levels of success than those who merely drift through life, expecting circumstances to create opportunities for them. Successful people create their own opportunities by focusing on goals with an intensity that borders on obsession. In this way, every action moves them toward their goal. Napoleon Hill

Remember the mind grows strong through use. Struggle makes power.
Napoleon Hill liked to tell a story about his grandfather, a wagon builder in North Carolina. When the old man cleared the land for cultivation, he always left a few oak trees in the middle of the field at the mercy of the elements, unsheltered by other trees in the forest. It was from those trees that his grandfather made the wagons’ wheels. Because they were forced to struggle against the fury of nature, they grew strong enough to bear the heaviest load. Welcome difficult challenges, for the greatest opportunities will come from challenges that force you to expand your mind as you search for creative solutions. During life’s bleakest hours, take solace in the face that you are strengthening yourself through struggle so that in the future you will be prepared to take on even greater challenges. Like the old oak tree, you grow strong only when you are forced to struggle. – Napoleon hill

4 Ways to Open Yourself to Healing

Laura Mayer

If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

I share my miraculous transformation from surviving to thriving to inspire you to do the same. After being diagnosed at age fourteen, undergoing eighteen surgeries and 40 years of a disabling neurological disease, I stepped out of the medical box and opened to the world of spirituality and alternative healing modalities.

I began to trust in the unknown forces of nature, the energy field and quantum physics. I learned to allow the flow of grace to nurture and heal me.

Healing was a process of releasing old messages stored in my DNA. I learned what it meant to have the courage to love myself enough and trust that I deserved a better life, a healthier existence. That’s when my entire body started to shift into wellness.

Mostly, I learned to “let go” and follow my inner guidance. In doing so I allowed my heart to be guided by intuition and grace, not by my mind/ego, which were, for the most part, driven by fear. I was slowly and steadily unlocking myself from the only existence I had known and began to vision a new life, filled with joy and acceptance.”

My healing journey helped me to identify the energetic root of my dis-ease and to realize if my heart healed, my body would heal as well. I learned the incredible power of words and how we receive exactly what we ask for. I learned everything in life offers us the opportunity to grow. Most importantly, I learned that by seeing through softer eyes there was no longer room for anger.

Trust you have the power to make choices and be the co-creator of your destiny. You can remain locked in old stories, trapped in past belief patterns and behaviors that no longer serve you, or you can create a new story – one that resonates with your authentic self. It’s about saying yes to your desires, your higher self.

I learned that forgiveness + compassion = healing. When we forgive ourselves, and others, we heal the hurt and discomfort that lies dormant in our cellular makeup.

I learned to drop my weapons and pick up my angel wings. When we are compassion and grace, we attract the same. Healing is based in the heart, not the mind.

As a result of my learning, I have completely transcended the disease and live each day in joy and gratitude.

If I can heal – anyone can heal.

My inspirational offering to you:

  • Know on the deepest level you deserve a life filled with joy, ease and grace.
  • Open to the unknown – step away from the rigidity of the past and welcome in non-traditional methods of healing. Trust in the invisible lines of connection – even when you are clueless to what will happen next.
  • Release or relinquish old belief patterns that no longer serve you.
  • Listen deeply to what your heart is telling you.

Be your heart’s desire and live your soul purpose.

Dare To Be To You
Make the greatest success of anything you must be able to concentrate your entire thought upon the idea you are working on.

If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

Be who you are. Don’t try to mimic anyone else. Be uniquely you, because (and this is quite amazing) there is no one else in this world exactly like you and never will be!

If you continue to strive to be someone you’re not, you’ll not only remain unhappy and unfulfilled, you’ll also deprive others of the gift of yourself—the very special “someone” only you can give.

That would be a tragedy.

Okay, so now you may wonder. . .

“How can I be myself if I don’t really know who I am yet?”

Good question. The first thing I’d recommend is to take in a big breath and begin to relax. Relax your body, relax your mind. Don’t try to figure it all out at once. You can’t anyway, so forget about it.

Your heart beats without having to remind it to, right?

You breathe without having to remember, correct?

Next, realize that your mind needs to be put in its proper place—as your assistant, not your ruler (although it always tries to be).

Take a moment to reflect on all the things you’ve worried about in your life and if your greatest fears were ever realized? How much time did you waste fretting over a situation to no avail? Did it not stop you from experiencing the very moment you were in? Good or bad, was it worth it?

Now, think back on all the great things that have occurred in your life so far. Were they planned out? Possibly, but count how many weren’t, the ones that came unexpectedly, the best kind of pleasures. I know you know what I mean here.

So, it’s time to tell your brain to stop thinking too much about what you SHOULD do, where you SHOULD go, and who you SHOULD be—before it’s too late! Remember, Invest in YOU skills are more precious than Goldyou’re not here to prove yourself to others. You’re not even here to prove yourself to yourself.

Instead, just quiet your mind and BE still, at least for a while, so your soul can finally hear and recognize your Spirit, the true ruler of your life.

Then, and only then, you’ll be able to release the desires that are deep within you waiting to get out. You can live from the inside out, not the other way around. You can be free from all the needless worry and anxiety that you’ve place upon yourself over the years.

Once you give yourself a chance to relax and really listen, like a flower blooms, your life will unfold without you having to fret about it. You’ll begin to catch glimpses of who you really are. You’ll begin to feel comfortable in your own skin. Imagine that!

Your life will bloom NATURALLY – the way all things are meant to BE.

I promise you, embarking on this wonderful journey of Self-discovery is the best thing you can allow for yourself.  It’s also

the best thing you can do for others.

The person that can centre their mind on any problem, no matter what it is, and remove any inharmonious impressions has strength of mind.

So what are you waiting for?

Shhhh! Listen!
