Take a look at your life and be grateful

”Today is a brand new day. A fresh start. Replace any negativity with positivity. Think happy thoughts. Exercise. Drink lots of water. Fill your body with fuel. Healthy is happy. Inspire yourself. Create. Laugh. Play. Love. Learn. Give someone a compliment. Make a new friend. Do a random act of kindness. It creates good karma. Take chances and finally start living life to its fullest. But no matter what’s thrown at you today, smile and remember, tomorrow’s always a fresh new start.” – Unknown

Over the course of my – your and anyone’s  lifetime there will have been many dark moments – moments of trauma, drama, tragedy and un-clarity. In the depths of the dark night of the soul experiences that sometimes can seem to last for several years; One can find themselves, again and again on ones knees in some way reaching out for support, guidance and a way home to peace and harmony.  Does this sound like you or anyone you know?

In my own personal life I have been advised to stay focused on the journey, admittedly I give myself these thoughts and A year from now you would wish you had started todaycomments as a youngster many years ago it was rare for anyone to be positive!! (how times change), as a child I was the oldest of 6 boys, anything they did wrong it was my fault…that’s that on the subject!!   It is more about the journey and not the destination. I have been “Self encouraging” to focus on what’s good in the moment, difficult or not the truth is that there are moments where it’s a mighty task to focus on the good!  I am not alone here am I?   I can and will feel better as many people are worse off than myself.

A positive mental attitude is an irresistible force that knows no such thing as an immovable body.
Time and again we hear stories about ordinary people who do seemingly impossible things when they find themselves in an emergency situation. They perform Herculean feats of strength and endurance, things they never dreamed they were capable of doing. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could harness that strength and make it available anytime you need it? You can — if you believe you can. No doubt you can remember a time in your life when you were exceptionally focused on your objective, a time when you achieved more in less time than ever before. Perhaps it was an impending vacation that motivated you to get everything done before you departed, or perhaps it was a “must pass” exam that helped you focus your concentration. The intensity that you developed in those situations is always available to you when you have a Positive Mental Attitude. – Napoleon Hill

I have read a lot of “Positive Mental Attitude” books through my busy life giving me the guidance needed to invoke the vision, strength or dreams of where I am going and what I want to be or do! Focus on your attention and intentions on what you are creating and continue to work towards that goal with the understanding that whatever is happening in the moment; it is going to be a wonderful fantastic positive feeling for the manifestation of that ultimate destiny.

Giving opens up the door to receiving. You have so many opportunities to give every day.                                                         Give kind words. Give a smile. Give appreciation and love. Give compliments. You can give courtesy to other motorists while you are driving. You can give a smile to the car parking attendant. You can give a warm greeting to the newspaper stand person or the person who makes your coffee. You can give by allowing a stranger to go ahead of you into an elevator, and you can give by asking which floor they are going to and pressing the button for them. If someone drops something you can give a helping hand and pick it up for them. You can give warm embraces to those you love. And you can give appreciation and encouragement to everyone. There are so many opportunities for you to give and thereby open the door to receiving.  May the joy be with you, Rhonda Byrne

I want to encourage you instead to focus on “BOTH” the Journey “and” the Destiny.  The Journey for anyone not just me is the place where we are receiving in the present moment all the information, guidance, gifts, blessings, experiences, lessons, and moments that make up the book of our life.

The Destiny of course is the end game – the life “well Lived”  Faith is what makes life bearable with all its tragediesthe dreams manifested, the visions achieved. A life well lived is one where you have surrendered to being made love to by life itself – those tender moments of pleasure, those sharp piercing moments of pain, culminating in a climactic orgasmic experience that brings us to a state of pure bliss and unification with the Divine.

”The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle happens. Don’t give up!”

Remember to breathe in the beauty, invoke your vision in those moments when it seems all is lost – that dream destination provides the motivation to keep moving forward through the darkest of days.   “SMILE

Remember to harvest the golden nuggets of wisdom and truth from those challenging experiences on the journey.

Remember to see each day at least one thing you can be grateful for – even if it’s just that you are breathing.

Remember to create time and space for yourself to disengage, Carry out a random act of kindness with no expectation of rewardnotice and allow whatever is to be as it is and to examine what it is that YOU really want and how you want to spend your life force.   Always Always be thankful and grateful no matter what as you have no idea how the person is walking past you at the time.

Remember to look for the angels who will come along your path at the most unusual of moments to support, love and assist you when you least expect it and acknowledge and recognize their loving ministrations with gratitude.

Connecting with people is an incredible skill as you connect first in their world because that is where they live their lives and where their interests and values lie

Remember to share your gifts with others and be an angel for those who are not quite as far along on the journey as you are. I feel this is more important than myself, one can gain everything by helping others achieve their aims goals or targets no matter who what or when!!

You never know when one kind act can change a person for everRemember to love life and let life make love to you – it’s an orgasmic experience if only you will truly surrender to it!  Loving life will be seen by others it is a gift to involuntarily passing on those feelings unknowingly..  it is also called “The power to change another persons life”

Enjoy the Journey the Destination, most of all be Grateful..

20 Hard Things You Need to Do to Be Happy

There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.

You have to do hard things to be happy in life.  The things no one else is doing.  The things that frighten you.  The things others can’t do for you.  The things that make you question how much longer you can hold on and push forward.

Why?

Because those are the things that define you.  Those are the things that make the difference between existing and living – between knowing the path and walking the path – between a life of mediocrity and a life filled with happiness and success.

Of course, the hard things are often the easiest things to avoid.  To procrastinate.  To make excuses.  To pretend like they somehow don’t apply to you and your life situation.

But reality always rears its head in the end.  And the truth about how ordinary people achieve immense happiness and incredible feats of success is that they step out of their comfort zones and do the hard things that their more educated, affluent and qualified counterparts don’t have the courage, drive or determination to do.

So for your own sake, start doing the hard things TODAY.  I guarantee, you will be blown away at just how remarkable you really are and just how amazing life can be.  Here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. You need to take small chances every day. – It’s the best way to face any problem, crush every fear and overcome life’s greatest challenges.  And you get just about as many chances in life as you’re willing to take.  So never let your fear decide your future.  Take small chances every day, one step at a time.  Some will work out and some won’t.  But good choices or bad, if you never take these chances, someone else will build your life for you.  And you don’t want that.
  2. You need to worry less about what other people think of you. – A beautiful life is about spending your time passionately, being happy with who you are inside, and not worrying about everyone’s petty judgments.  If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking for everyone’s approval.  You don’t need anyone’s approval to be happy or to follow your heart.
  3. You need to ignore what everyone else is doing and achieving. – Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live YOUR best life.  You are not in competition with anyone else; plan to outdo your past, not other people.
  4. You need to invest in yourself even when no one else is. – Truth be told, there are only a few people in this world who will stay 100% true to you, and YOU should be one of them.  Prioritize your own needs into your daily to-do’s.  Invest in your education, health and happiness every single day.  Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that just looks good on the outside to everyone else.  (Read Choose Yourself!)
  5. You need to walk the talk. – Do not ask others or the universe to guide your footsteps if you’re not willing to move your feet.  If you really want it, prove it!  Happiness will come to you when it comes from you.  Success will be yours when you take responsibility for making your goals a top priority.
  6. You need to put your heart into your work. – Love is a verb.  Act on it.  Put your heart into goals that move you.  Work hard.  In the end, love is what makes you smile when you’re tired and still struggling.
  7. You need to deliver results, even when making excuses is easier. – NO shortcuts.  NO quick fixes.  NO blaming others.  NO “I’ll do it tomorrows.”  NO MORE EXCUSES!  Just get started.  Quit talking and begin doing!  Laziness may appear attractive, but work leads to happiness.
  8. You need to make mistakes and look like a fool sometimes. – Quite often, the successful people who act the happiest are the ones who have overcome the most.  Sometimes you have to lose something precious in order to gain something priceless.  Never regret your past mistakes and failures, because they have given you strength.  The one who falls and gets up is much stronger than the one who never fell.
  9. You need to let go of yesterday’s struggles. – The story of your life has many chapters.  One bad chapter doesn’t mean it’s the end.  So stop re-reading the bad one already and turn the page.  Accept what is, let go of what was and have faith in what could be.  Remember, life does not have to be anywhere near perfect to be wonderful in the end.
  10. You need to refrain from feeling sorry for yourself. – To those who are struggling, I understand how rough things are right now.  I just want to let you know that things will get better, I promise.  Keep pushing forward.  I know you feel like nobody really cares, but you’re wrong.  People care.  I care, otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this.  You’re not alone.  We may be miles apart, but we’re all going through similar challenges.  Realize that self-pity is not helpful.  Life is not about feeling sorry for yourself.  It’s about forgiveness, acceptance and looking forward to what makes you stronger and better off in the long run.
  11. You need to toughen up. – The strongest, happiest, most successful people are NOT those who always win, but those who don’t give up when they lose. They fail forward.  So keep calm when everything seems to be going wrong.  You may feel weak, but your spirit is strong.  When things are tough, you must be tougher.  Don’t pray for an easy life; pray for the strength to endure a hard one that leads to long-term success and happiness.
  12. You need to fight hard for what you believe in. – Great strength comes from overcoming what others believe is impossible.  And sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war.  So if you believe strongly in something, fight for it.  In time things will fall into place… maybe not today, but eventually… maybe not exactly how you planned, just how it’s meant to be.  (Angel and I discuss this in more detail in the “Adversity” chapter of 1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently.)
  13. You need to be patient. – Don’t rush it.  Practice patience.  Keep a good attitude while working hard for what you believe in.  When the time is right, it’ll happen.
  14. You need to take control of your thoughts before they take control of you. –It’s often our own thinking that hurts us.  Realize this.  You can’t solve your problems with the same thinking you used to create them.  There’s no reason to imprison yourself.  Don’t think outside the box.  Think like there is no box.
  15. You need to be positive. – Happiness is in the heart and mind, not in random circumstances.  Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from negative thinking.  Be positive and smile right now, not because everything is good, but because you can see the good side of everything.  Smiling doesn’t always mean you’re happy; sometimes it simply means you’re strong.  And smiling will help you feel better.
  16. You need to spend more time with the right people. – And if you know the people around you aren’t the right people, you need to change the people around you.  It’s not easy, but it’s worth it.  Don’t expect to see positive changes in your life if you surround yourself with negative people.  Don’t give part-time people a full-time position in your life.  Know your value and what you have to offer, and never settle for relationships that always bring you down.
  17. You need to stand up for yourself. – Some people will do anything for their own personal gain at the expense of others – cut in line, take money and property, bully and belittle, pass guilt, etc.  Do not accept this behaviour.  Do not let people walk all over you.  Most of these people know they’re doing the wrong thing and will back down and apologize surprisingly quickly when confronted.  In most social settings people tend to keep quiet until one person speaks up, so SPEAK UP.
  18. You need to forgive everyone who has wronged you. – Kindness is not to be mistaken for weakness, nor forgiveness for acceptance.  It’s about knowing that resentment is not on the path to happiness.  Remember, you don’t forgive people because you’re weak.  You forgive them because you’re strong enough to know that people make mistakes.  (Read Loving What Is.)
  19. You need to reach out and help people. – The closest thing to being cared for is to care for others.  We are all in this together and we should treat each other as such.  Your beliefs alone don’t make you a better person, your behaviour does.  Use your voice for kindness, your ears for compassion, and your hands for charity, always.  You don’t need a reason to help someone else.
  20. You need to be present enough to enjoy your journey. – Find your balance between planning and presence.  When life is good, enjoy it.  Don’t go looking for something better every second.  Happiness never comes to those who don’t appreciate what they have.  You must be willing to loosen your grip on the life you have planned so you can enjoy the life that is waiting for you in this moment.  It may not be everything you want for your future, but it’s everything you need right now.

“You create your life through the inner power of your being, whose source is within you and yet beyond the selves that you know. Use those creative abilities with understanding abandon. Honour yourselves and move through the godliness of your being.” Jane Roberts

7 Little Ways to Make Your Life Simpler

Anyone can make today more complicated than it has to be, and most people will. It takes a touch of wisdom to do the opposite.

Our days fill up so fast, and are so frenzied and jammed with drama and distractions, they often seem to be bursting at the seams.  And the craziest part of it all is that we get so accustomed to this kind of chaos, we think it’s normal.  We go about each day without ever questioning why we feel so darn stressed out.

Angel and I lived this way for many years, until a time came when we were dealt a series of harsh reality checks that forced us to re-examine everything.  One of the key lessons we learned through this re-examination is that it’s not terribly hard to make our lives a whole lot simpler and happier, one day at a time… one step at a time.

Today, I encourage you to join us on our daily journey of living a simpler, happier life by following the seven steps I’ve outlined below.  Keep in mind, however, that while Angel and I have fully incorporated each of these steps into our daily lives, we did so gradually.  I suggest you choose one right now and begin working on it.  Then revisit this list when you’re ready to take the next step.

  1. Identify what’s most important, and eliminate the rest. – This may sound like a drastic measure to some, but it’s really not.  Today will quickly fill up with time-wasting activities if you aren’t careful.  Thus, you must remember that being productive isn’t just about getting things done – it’s also about leaving things undone.  The simplicity and efficiency of today relies heavily on the elimination of non-essential tasks.  You must identify what’s most important to you, and then eliminate as much as you possibly can of everything else.
  2. DE clutter your physical space. – DE cluttering your physical space not only makes things more organized, but it also leads to a less cluttered mental space.  The visual distractions in your environment pull on you and distract you in more ways than you likely realize.  If you’re holding on to things you don’t need, let go and donate them to someone who does.  Give yourself some extra breathing room.  And remember, it’s not just how many (or how few) things you own that matters – it’s whether you make those things count.  For example, it’s better to have three great books on your bookshelf that you’re actually going to read rather than 300 that only take up space.  (Read The More of Less for DE cluttering strategies that work.  Note: We read an advance copy of this book, and it’s a must-read.)
  3. Schedule at least one distraction-free time block each day. – Distractions are nothing more than complications.  So once you know you’re focusing on what’s important, and your space is relatively clutter-free, eliminating all distractions for a set time while you work is one of the most effective ways to get things done.  Just lock your door, put a sign up, turn off your phone, close your email application, disconnect your internet connection, whatever it takes.  You can’t remain in hiding forever, but you can be twice as peaceful and twice as productive while you are.
  4. Leave space between everything on your to-do list. – It’s tempting to fill in every waking minute of the day with tasks.  Don’t do this to yourself.  Leave space.  The space between the things you do is just as important as the things you do.  Remember, your overarching goal is living a life uncluttered by most of the things people fill their lives with, leaving you with space for what’s truly important.  A life that isn’t constant busyness, rushing and stress, but instead mindful contemplation, creation and connection with people and projects that bring meaning into your life.
  5. Disconnect from the drama. – When your day gets stressful and the people around you aren’t helping, keep in mind that the battle you’re going through is never fuelled by the things other people do; it is fuelled by your mind that gives these things importance.  Even if you have a good reason to be angry and resentful, don’t.  Channel your energy into thoughts and actions that actually benefit your life – build positive daily rituals that build YOU.  And as you move forward positively, remember, there is a huge amount of simplicity and freedom that comes into your life when you take nothing personally.  (Angel and I build positive daily rituals with our students in the “Goals and Growth” module of Getting Back to Happy.)
  6. Let go of life’s uncontrollable outcomes. – When you attempt to control too much, you complicate things, and thus you enjoy too little.  Sometimes you just need to let go, take a deep breath and love what is.  Make mistakes, learn from the realities around you, laugh about it all and then move along.  Waste not a minute on outcomes you can’t control.  This, I’ve learned, is the best way to be in all walks of life… You can stop trying to change people, and just let go and dissolve into their presence – just notice who they truly are, just appreciate every idiosyncratic quirk.  You can stop complaining about your life circumstances, about your losses, about how the world is, and just let go and love what is.  Just be.  Just accept.  Just appreciate.
  7. Reflect on the goodness. – One of the primary reasons we complicate our lives is because we become ungrateful.  We lose our enthusiasm and then we go looking for it in all the wrong places.  We think we need more of everything to find it again, when in fact we need less.  We need less clutter, less distraction, less drama and less busyness, so we can create the space we once had to appreciate what we have.  And what we have is always more than enough.  Reflect on this.  Never let all the things you want make you forget about all the things you have.  Consider how very fortunate you are.  Consider it every day.  (Angel and I discuss this in more detail in the “Simplicity” chapter of 1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently.)

How You Can Choose Wealth Over Riches

Abundance, Success, Wealth

If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

I’m proud of my financial position in life, but contrary to what a lot of people may think, I never aspired to be rich. I wanted to be wealthy. It wasn’t always that way, though. I think there was a lot of fear driving me. Fear of being poor again and fear of going back to that impoverished life from my childhood.

Being rich and being wealthy seem to be synonymous with success. However, there’s a big difference between the two. The main difference between being rich and being wealthy is knowledge. Wealthy people know how to make money, while rich people only have money. Rich people are motivated by money, but wealthy people are motivated by their dreams, purpose and passion. Most rich people make a lot of money with their pay checks but the moment they stop working, they also stop making money. Wealth, true wealth, is often generational money and money that works for you.

Most people do want to be rich. We want to enjoy the fruits of their labour and live a life that is more fortunate and ultimately extravagant than the average man. We dream of having the nice things. These are things that everyone wants, but very few actually achieve. Essentially, it comes down to the person and their mind-set. It also comes down to their purpose, motivation and will power. It’s never the ones that are just motivated by money, it’s the ones who are motivated to change the world and build a legacy because that is what wealth really is.

Your ability to cultivate desire and take persistent action is what will make you successful, not your natural talents. It’s all about consistent daily action. Wealthy and rich people both may experience downfalls and failures in their ventures. However, wealthy people are knowledgeable when it comes to money matters and can start all over again and build wealth over time.

The key to acquiring wealth is to regularly monitor and increase your passive and portfolio income by increasing your means to earn and decreasing your expenses. The moment you decide to make passive and portfolio income a part of your financial habit and discipline yourself in building it, you are on your way to financial freedom.

This is the path in maintaining a strong wealth foundation. Never forget that what you do on a daily basis determines your habits, and your habits determine who you are, what you accomplish, and the legacy you leave. People will measure you by what you do and what you have managed to accomplish in your lifetime, which then of course leads to your legacy.

If you have inspired people and they can share and tell your story for generations to come, then you have created wealth in your life. You have left a legacy. You have done something different – you didn’t settle for simply being rich.

I don’t work for my money. It works for me. That’s the key to separating the wealthy from the rich. While I am still working diligently on my plan to independent wealth, I am confident I am on the right path. Which path will you choose?

Embracing the Mystery

Reba LinkerIf I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

The mystery of life is not random or capricious, and our understanding can grow and grow. Nonetheless, it is an unending mystery, and there is always more to know.

Even enlightened beings are still learning, still following their path. No doubt they follow a very elevated path, but a path it still is.

What does this mean, in terms of our daily life?

It means ALLOW the mystery.

Yes, keep on knowing, planning and doing, yet also remember that there is meaning in the cracks in between all the knowing, planning and doing.

It means get comfortable with not-knowing, with those moments where not everything goes according to plan. There may be an even bigger plan at work, a design you are not yet privy to.

Sometimes it takes years to discover the true design. My life has been like that, a series of ‘aha moments’ after the fact. “Ahh, I get it now! I thought I was on the way to point A, but I really was headed to point Z. And point Z feels so right, yet I never would have known to aim for it, for only by heading for point A did I find my way here, to point Z.”

It means self-love. Once we accept that we don’t know – we can’t know – everything, and we can’t be fully in control, we begin to accept our truth and our vulnerability.

And the light between the cracks begins to shine into our lives.

Things that once made us uncomfortable, that we tried mightily to reject, suppress, and deny – all those things now become OK. We have things we wish we did differently, things we wish were different – all this is now OK. It is part of our humanity, and it is beautiful.

We are in transition, on a journey, always, and this leg of the journey isn’t done until it is over. This means we are always a tiny bit lost; we never know exactly what the next step will bring. Yet we can learn to dance in the shimmering light in between our steps, and love the adventure between the ‘sign-posts.’

As clear as our vision may be, we operate on faith, always.

This brings us full circle, back to the mystery, to the life in between the cracks of all our doing, planning, and knowing. The mystery pulsates with meaning and light. It is knowable, but there is always more to know.

The more we welcome the mystery into our lives, the more we partner with it, the easier it becomes to find the balance between doing, planning and knowing, and being more fully in the present moment, at home with our not-knowing.

We become students, not masters, alert to what we do not yet fully comprehend. And the openness of the student is what is truly masterful.

We do not know exactly what the future will bring. Yet, if we hold hands with the unknowable, we will never be alone, even as we step into the unknown.

Promise Yourself Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.  To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.  To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. Christian Daa Larson 1874-1954, New Thought Leader, Teacher, and Author
