Finding Happiness

image

“We all have the capability to make a difference, to accept what we are given, to love with our heart and live life to the fullest, or not: it’s up to us.” – Tracy Goodwin

If you want to find the key to happiness, success and abundance, you need to start by evaluating your own opinion of yourself. It’s not always easy to appreciate the hard work you put in every day, the difference you make in the lives of others, and the distance you’re willing to go to make your dreams come true. If it were easy, then everyone would do it, but before you even begin to think about things such as success and failure, you need to come to know yourself, and then you need to learn to love yourself.

Wise Words  “Carefully watch your thoughts, for they become your words. Manage and watch your words, for they will become your actions. Consider and judge your actions, for they have become your habits. Acknowledge and watch your habits, for they shall become your values. Understand and embrace your values, for they become your destiny.” -Mahatma Gandhi

Why is it Challenging to Love Ourselves?

It’s not easy, because as the saying goes, “we are all our own worst critics.” That saying, though it may be cliché, is absolutely correct. We find it difficult to love ourselves because we witness every mistake we make, every personality flaw we carry, every selfish tendency we possess, and we also are the one who knows exactly what we are capable of.

Learning to love yourself is not something that happens overnight, it is learned through experience and effort. Too often society teaches us that we need to look outside ourselves to find out who we really are, but I think the exact opposite is true. If you really want to understand more about your purpose in life, you need to turn inward, not outward. Turning outward will cause you to submit to the pressures of the world and be a person that you aren’t meant to be, but reflecting inward will connect you with your true self, and if you follow your instincts you will never be led astray.

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts." Marcus Aurelius

How to Love Yourself

The more you reflect inward, the more you will learn about yourself, and through that learning you will come to appreciate what you have to offer the world. You will realize that you are stronger, more intelligent, and more talented than you have ever imagined. You will feel moved to share your gifts with the world, and over time that will transform you into an unselfish person who knows what it means to find success.

If the idea of loving yourself wholeheartedly is foreign to you, try taking the following steps and see what kind of difference it makes:

From The Secret Daily Teachings

Never let a day pass without looking for the good, feeling the good within you, praising, appreciating, blessing, and being grateful. Make it your life commitment, and you will stand in utter awe of what happens in your life. May the joy be with you, Rhonda Byrne

#1: Forgive Yourself for Past and Future Mistakes

Each one of us will make mistakes every day, so you might as well forgive yourself now and get it over with it. Once you learn to forgive yourself of mistakes and move forward, you will be better in control of your emotional state, which will allow you to continue pushing toward your goals of success when mistakes and failures do come up. And here’s a secret: they will always come up!

It is so important that you are grateful for everything in your life. Many people focus on the one thing they want and then forget to be grateful for all the things they have. Without gratitude you cannot achieve anything through the law of attraction, because if you are not emanating gratitude from your being, then by default you are emanating ungratefulness. Be proactive and use the frequency of your being to receive what you want. May the joy be with you,
Rhonda Byrne

#2: Put Your Own Needs First Every Once in a While

Each one of us has our own personal needs, but usually we get too caught up taking care of the needs of others to make time to take care of ourselves. If you want to build more confidence and have positive feelings toward yourself, you need to ask yourself “Is this what I really want?” before you make any important decisions. Don’t make decisions based on the opinions of others, make decisions that are right for you. Over time you will love yourself more for being willing to trust.

"Extend to each person, no matter how trivial the contact, all the care and kindness and understanding and love that you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again." Og Mandino

#3: Make Time to do Things you Love!

The most successful people in the world rarely have a difficult time with their work, because they are involved in things they are deeply passionate about. You can take this same attitude with your life. If you aren’t doing things you love on a routine basis, what is the purpose of living? Of course, make sure you have time to attend to all of your responsibilities, but always leave extra time for the things you love most.

You are led through your life time by the inner learning creature, the playful spiritual being that is you’re real self. Don’t turn away from possible futures before you are certain you don’t have anything to learn from them. You’re always free to change your mind and chose a different future, or a different past. The book Illusions.

Gray Lawrence

“Pure love has no conditions or boundaries. Love does not restrain itself or hold back. Love gives all the time and doesn’t ask for anything in return. Love is a continuous flow without any limits. And all of this is inside you.                                                           May the joy be with you, Rhonda Byrne

Identifying your GOALS

Goals are like magnets

Identifying Your Goals

I have spoken about goals often in my blogs, I hope they are as important to you s they are to me..  They are a part of our lives FOR EVER!

Many people have stalled goals, so I am sure this was very helpful to many people.  But also many people don’t really have "proper" goals at all.

How about you?  What are your main goals?  Not goals for your business (whether it belongs to you or you are simply an employee).  Not goals you have for others (your partner or your children for example).  Yes, you need business and family goals, but you also need real personal goals.  So what are your personal goals?

At this point I know I will have lost some of my readers, as when they look at their stated goals they realize they don’t have any personal goals, just goals for others.  If you are in that group, bear with me.

Now let’s have a look at those personal goals and see how real they are.

Determination Desire Goals etcFirstly, hands up those who gave a monetary goal.  Perhaps an amount of money in the bank (maybe £1Mllion?).  Or a regular amount you want to receive every month or every year?  If your hand is up, let me be a bit controversial.  What you have isn’t a real goal at all!  It may be a way you can achieve the goal, but it isn’t a goal in itself.  Unfortunately, though, many people try to turn this means to an end into the end itself.  Wanting to gain a certain amount of money in order to achieve an end goal is not a bad thing.  But wanting to gain that money with no other aim other than simply to have the money is not a good thing.  Not a good thing at all!

If you felt your goal was a certain amount of money, I would like you to start digging deeper.  Why do you want that money?  What will you use it for?  What will it change in your life?  Whatever answers you get to those questions, as long as those answers inspire you, then those are your real goals, not the money.  Some people will probably feel I am splitting hairs here, and that it doesn’t matter what you want the money for, that first you want to get the money and then you can decide how to use it.  You could not get further from the truth!  Your goal has to inspire you.  It has to be a real goal.  Money is NOT a real goal.  It doesn’t hurt to include it as one of your goals, but only as a minor goal and not your main target.

This is a fine world for the person who knows precisely what he or she expects from life and is busy getting it.
We are happiest when we are striving to achieve a goal. When we achieve one goal, it’s a natural human tendency to set another, usually bigger, one. W. Clement Stone calls it inspirational dissatisfaction — the let own one experiences after a goal has been achieved and before the next step toward a new one has been taken. When you begin to experience that nagging feeling, it’s time to get into action! Make sure you have a long-range plan in place so that when one short-term goal has been achieved, there is a natural progression toward the next. Napoleon Hill

The reality is that although money can be used to get whatever it is you want to have, it is not usually the only possible way to get it.  Maybe it is the most likely way – it probably is.  But it is not the ONLY way.  And on the basis of that well-known quote "the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil" (1 Timothy 6:10) I urge you not to put your main emphasis on simply acquiring wealth without knowing why you want to acquire it and exactly how you plan to use it.

Many people, when they first realize the mistake they have made in confusing wealth and their real goals, suddenly find they have true goals that they didn’t really recognize before.  Goals that really excite them.  And even in some cases goals that don’t need any greater wealth for them to be achievable.

Through the harmony and ultimately the balance of the feminine energy, of that goddess energy, you will unlock the Vortex of Power that lies within. – Lazaris

Secondly, hands up those who gave what, frankly, they would consider an unrealistic goal.  Often this mistake is compounded by being a monetary goal too.  Back to our £ Million in the bank account when, perhaps, you have a minimum wage job and no more money in your account than is needed for this month’s expenses.  Whether the unrealistic goal is a monetary goal or not, if you see it as unrealistic you should modify it.

Notice I have said "if you see it as unrealistic".  Not "if it is unrealistic".  The key factor here is what you truly believe is possible, not what IS possible.  I happen to believe that everything is possible.  But that doesn’t mean I will try working towards goals that I know make me flinch when I state them, with an inner belief that this is not achievable for me yet.  Everything is possible, but many of those possibilities are an end goal that seems too far away to excite us into trying to achieve it now.

Your thoughts ceate your futureIdentify your personal goals, examine them, ensure they excite you, and ensure they don’t elicit from you an immediate reaction that they are not possible.  As a result of this examination, don’t be afraid to change those goals.  Your goals should always be evolving anyway.  The goals you have today are most unlikely to be the same goals you had five years ago, and are just as unlikely to be the same goals you will have in five years’ time.  If you didn’t immediately come up with any goals, then now is the time to try finding some.  Identify real personal goals and, trust me, you will find your life is more meaningful – and the meaning will make you happier.

Work towards real, personal goals, and as you move closer to them and achieve some of them, replace them with other, perhaps more ambitious goals.

The power is from within, the choice is yours

Five Secrets Guaranteeing Success

Focus on the WHY of life and not the HOW, remembering that where focus goes, energy flows.                                                                                                                               Success and failure comes in pairs. Either you have a pair of Aces called “Resolve & Undenied” or a pair of jokers called “Wishing & Wanting You’re hand to play.       Gray Lawrence

What if there was a secret book somewhere that could virtually guarantee your success, would you want to know where it was? What if there were unwritten rules and laws inside that book that only a small number of people knew about and what if those laws could literally change your whole life; would you play by those rules and adhere to those laws in order to have the life you really want? Would that secret book be your Bible?

Think about it for a moment; if you were handed a secret book with a set of rules and a simple but powerful formula to follow that would allow you to own your life, would you read that book from front to back cover and put the secrets to work for you or would you leave it standing idle on your bookshelf and forget about it?

(Wikipedia)

If you’re ready to push aside your past and plan a future that is everything you’ve ever wanted, what follows is a secret formula to making millions in your MLM that is more valuable than any book you will ever read. Let’s take a look at it…

5 Secrets To Changing Your Life

The First Secret – Your Past is NOT Your Future.

We are all influenced by the past. It might be that our parents, peers or siblings presented us with situations and challenges when we were young children that we were not always comfortable with and that we struggled to come through in the way we would have wanted to. This is simply a part of life but for some, this time of failure (as it is often viewed), leaves a heavy footprint in the sand.

clip_image001

The secret to creating the future you desire and truly deserve is to leave this footprint behind. Allow the sea to wash over it until the footprint is washed away. Now move on…

The Second Secret – Your Beliefs Become Your Reality.

The human mind is more powerful that any computer. It has the ability to store an unlimited amount of information and solve the most complex problems and has taken our species from the dark ages to a place where we are now globally connected in ways many of our ancestors could only dream of. We all have the power to create change and develop ideas into life changing realities. Those who we remember for their achievements and inventions had one single thing in common; a belief in what they were able to achieve and that belief enabled them to create what we remember them for. Edison’s first electric light bulb, Einstein’s theory of relativity, Levi Strauss’ Denims. We remember their achievements and inventions which were a result of their belief in a new reality.

When you focus on what you believe will be your achievements and see them mapped out in front of you (goal by goal), your beliefs become your reality over time and your journey, struggle by struggle, simply becomes a part of the process of getting to where you are going.

The Third Secret – Your Actions Become Your Habits.

Affirmations create long term mental change and are valuable to the process of change. Results come from a different place and are achieved as an output of some kind of action. Great results are the outcome of focused activity, while poor results are the outcome of unplanned random acts (subconsciously intended to fail).

Successful entrepreneurs have three basic attributes in common; strong work ethic, self belief and laser targeted focus on the task in hand. This doesn’t mean you should never have more than one thing in the pot when you are planning to cook up some serious change. In contrast, wealth is often created through multiple streams of income. The key to creating that wealth, though, is to focus and complete one task at a time. Creating, planning and carrying out many tasks over time that will have a deep impact on the overall plan you have put in place.

Understand why you want to achieve change and then put a detailed plan in place of how that change will take place. Once your plan is in place, break it down into daily, weekly and monthly tasks that you must complete and watch your actions become the habits of a successful entrepreneur.

The Fourth Secret – Your Heart Will Lead To Wealth.

Business is often seen as the domain of grey suits, reserved relationships and serious conversation and at times this is needed. There is a place also for laughter, love and deep connections. Connecting with your customers, business partners and team members and creating the type of workplace or business that doesn’t feel like work and feels more like a cause. Creating great connections brings people together behind a cause and allows you to bring people with you on your journey.

These connections will help you to truly unlock the secret and throw open the door to riches by creating the lifestyle you are searching for. A life unrestricted by the “norms” and expectations of business life and led by your heart and not your head.

The Fifth Secret – Your Goals Are Greater Than Your Gain.

Great gifts are often wrapped in simple paper. When we begin this journey we’re often so deep in debt or feeling so lost in our current place in life, that our focus is on something that is simply material. We’d like a new car or a holiday with the family or we would do anything to have an extra few thousand in our bank account each month. These material things will only carry us so far on this journey and after a while will cease to inspire us to reach our true potential.

clip_image003

The secret to creating the life you know is out there waiting for you is to have a goal that is truly bigger than your gain. This is different for each of us and will only come to you when you are ready to receive it. When it does, make it your legacy and your journey will fall into place.

The Secret Book – Changing Your Life

Changing your life and creating the future you desire starts when you make a decision to fulfil your dream. You may be focused on your current problems, your challenges and concerns right now and have little more in your sights than that looming credit card bill or mortgage payment. You may hate your job and the people you work with or feel that your social life has simply vanished beneath a pile of personal responsibilities and free time is nothing but a dream. These are real challenges and often take over our lives without being invited to..

When we push through these challenges we are able to make a space for the things we truly value to come into focus; our family and loved ones, our health and happiness and our true desire to leave the world a better place through our actions and achievements. This is the real secret.   Neil Ashworth

Dare to DREAM BIG

Debra KeirceIf I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

Do it.
Dare to dream.
Dream big.
Dream the details.
Imagine the day when your dream comes true.
Surround yourself with people who support your dream. In turn, support them in their dreams.

In this way, you will succeed. Be willing to sacrifice, and be willing to walk away from those who criticize or distract. Be generous and loving in your pursuits. Lift others up because you know that your biggest assets in this journey are the love and support of those around you. Let go of anyone who tries to hold you back. Do not judge, and do not allow yourself to be judged. Keep your eyes on the prize. It doesn’t matter whether people understand your intentions. It doesn’t matter if you fail in your first attempts. You will fail in your first attempts. The journey will be full of unexpected turns and amazing adventures. Take time to thoroughly enjoy achievements along the way. The biggest dreams are full of the biggest joys, the deepest disappointments and the most adversity. Through it all, keep an unrelenting focus on your goals.

“Dream” is a verb. It is an act that starts with a single thought. It’s not something that happens to you. It’s not a story you can watch play out on its own. It is not a description of something attained by a privileged few. It’s not a reward for being in the right place at the right time. Dreaming requires your active participation. Plan for success. Structure that single thought in a unique way that describes joy, contentment, peace, happiness and success for you on a very personal level. Nurture and feed that thought so it can grow. Chance opportunities will present themselves, but don’t rely on chance. Rather, be prepared to forge ahead when doors open for you. If you dare to dream, be tenacious in pursuit of that dream. Invest yourself heart and soul.

Even before you reach your goals, you will inspire people to set their own. With every challenge that knocks you down, people will see you as a Luminary when you get back up and soldier on.

If you want to change the world in a positive way, dream with passion.

See the path to the finish line as your life’s journey. And when one dream ends, celebrate and start a new one. Show us how it’s done. Simply, dream. Do it.

Debra Keirce is an internationally collected artist who lives in Northern Virginia, USA. Debra paints from life, photo references, and her imagination. Her paintings are very realistic, but her subject matter is nothing that exists for you to readily photograph. For this reason, her art is often referred to as hauntingly familiar. Art critic Brian Sherwin, Editor of The Art Edge, commented on Debra’s still life paintings. Sherwin said, "Artist Debra Keirce approaches her still life paintings with a playful sense of surrealism. The work I observed appears to capture a dream-like quality. This quality is heightened by Debra’s love of unique still life arrangements." For Ms. Keirce, being an artist is the continuation of a dream that started in Detroit in 1978 when she was 17 years old. That was the year she decided to live a life of magic, and seemingly improbable, if not impossible, goals. She decided then and there to become a chemical engineer. She later left engineering to raise a family when she was on the verge of being promoted into management, raise three children as a stay at home mom, and began a successful career as a professional fine artist. And, the dream continues.

Ask, Believe, Receive – just three simple steps to create what you want. However, very often the second step, believe, can be the most difficult one. And yet it is the greatest step you will ever take. When you master believing, you have mastered your life.

To master believing, all you have to do is tip the balance of your thoughts, words, and actions, from ‘not believing’ to believing. The ONLY thing that can ever get in the way of manifesting what you want, is having more thoughts of ‘not believing’, speaking more words of ‘not believing’, and taking more actions of ‘not believing’, than you are of believing. Base the majority of your thoughts, words, and actions in believing, and the law of attraction must obey you.  Rhonda Byrne “The Secret”

6 Things Happy People Never Do

Happiness is not something you postpone for the future;
it is something you design into the present.

Happy people do a lot of things.  They spend time expressing gratitude, cultivating optimism, practicing kindness, nurturing loving relationships, committing to meaningful goals, savouring life’s little pleasures, and so on and so forth.

But they NEVER…

1.  Mind other people’s business.

Forget about what others are doing.  Stop looking at where they are and what they have.  Nobody is doing better than you because nobody can do better than you.  YOU are walking your own path.  Sometimes the reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes circumstances with everyone else’s public highlight reel.  We listen to the noise of the world, instead of ourselves.  So stop the comparisons!  Ignore the distractions.  Listen to your own inner voice.  Mind your own business.

Keep your best wishes and your biggest goals close to your heart and dedicate time to them every day.  Don’t be scared to walk alone, and don’t be scared to enjoy it.  Don’t let anyone’s ignorance, drama, or negativity stop you from being the best you can be.  Keep doing what you know in your heart is right, for YOU.  Because when you are focused on meaningful work and at peace within yourself, almost nothing can shake you.  (Angel and I discuss this in more detail in the “Passion and Growth” chapter of 1,000 Little Things Happy, Successful People Do Differently.)

2.  Seek validation of self-worth from others.

When you are content to simply be yourself, without comparing and competing to impress others, everyone worthwhile will respect you.  And even more importantly, you will respect yourself.

How are you letting others define you?  What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

Truth be told, no one has the right to judge you.  People may have heard your stories, and they may think they know you, but they can’t feel what you are going through; they aren’t living YOUR life.  So forget what they think and say about you.  Focus on how you feel about yourself, and keep walking the path that feels best under your feet.

Those who accept you are your friends.  Those who don’t are your teachers.  If someone calls you something and it’s true, it’s not your problem because it’s true.  If someone calls you something and it’s not true, it’s not your problem because it’s not true.  Either way, whatever they call you is not your problem.  What other people call you is their problem…

What you call yourself, and who you decide to become, is your problem.

3.  Rely on other people and external events for happiness.

Unhappiness lies in that gap between what we have now and what we think we need.  But the truth is, we don’t need to acquire anything more to be content with what we already have.  We don’t need anyone else’s permission to be happy.  Your life is magnificent not because someone says it is, or because you have acquired something new, but because you choose to see it as such.  Don’t let your happiness be held hostage.  It is always yours to choose, to live and experience.

As soon as you stop making everyone and everything else responsible for your happiness, the happier you’ll be.  If you’re unhappy now, it’s not someone else’s fault.  Take full responsibility for your own unhappiness, and you will instantly gain the ability to be happier.  Stop seeking in vain to arrange conditions that will make you happy.  Simply choose to appreciate the greatness that is yours in this moment, and the right conditions will start to line up around the contentment you seek.

The greater part of your happiness or unhappiness depends upon your outlook, and not upon our situation.  Even if things aren’t perfect right now, think of all the beauty still left around you.  A good reason to smile is always one thought away; choose to tap into it any time you like.  (Read The Gifts of Imperfection.)

4.  Hold on to resentment.

Let today be the day you stop being haunted by the ghosts from your past.  What happened in the past is just one chapter in your story; don’t close the book, just turn the page.

We’ve all been hurt by our own decisions and by others, and while the pain of these experiences is normal, sometimes it lingers for too long.  Feelings of resentment urge us to relive the same pain over and over, and we have a hard time letting go.

Forgiveness is the remedy.  It allows you to focus on the future without combating the past.  To understand the infinite potential of everything going forward is to forgive everything already behind you.  Without forgiveness, wounds can never be healed and personal growth can never be achieved.  It doesn’t mean you’re erasing the past, or forgetting what happened.  It means you’re letting go of the resentment and pain, and instead choosing to learn from the incident and move on with your life.

5.  Spend prolonged periods of time in negative environments.

You can’t make positive choices for the rest of your life without an environment that makes those choices easy, natural, and enjoyable.  So protect your spirit and potential from contamination by limiting your time with negative people and the environments they inhabit.

When other people invite you to act like victims, when they whine and moan about the unfairness of life, for example, and ask you to agree, to offer condolences, and to participate in their grievances, WALK AWAY.  When you join in that game of negativity you always lose.

Even when you’re alone, create a positive mental space for yourself.  Make it a point to give up all the thoughts that make you feel bad, or even just a few of them that have been troubling you, and see how doing that changes your life.  You don’t need negative thoughts.  They are all lies.  They solve nothing.  All they have ever given you is a false self that suffers for no reason.  (Read Buddha’s Brain.)

6.  Resist the truth.

It is a certain deathtrap when we spend our lives learning how to lie, because eventually these lies grow so strong in our minds that we become bad at seeing, telling and living our own truth.  Lives come apart so easily when they have been held together with lies.  If you resist the truth, you will live a lie every day as the truth haunts your thoughts every night.  You simply can’t get away from your truth by moving dishonestly from one place to the next.

So don’t bend; don’t water it down; don’t try to hide the truth with deception; don’t edit your own soul according to the fashion of what’s popular.  It is better to offer no explanation or excuse than a false one.  It takes courage and strength to admit the truth, but it is the only way to truly live.  Accept what is, embrace it fully, and live for the possibilities that lie ahead.

Your turn…

When we start looking at everything that might go wrong, we fear then to attempt.  Our opportunity today is to pay attention to any thoughts that could be vibrations of doubt and turn them into faith.  Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.  But not today.  Our doubts will not have their way with us today.  Our faith shall prevail.  To Your Prevailing Faith,  Mary Morrissey

The size of your success is measured by the strength of your desire; the size of your dream; and how you handle disappointment along the way. Robert Kiyosaki
