Open, generous and connected

Isn’t that what we seek from a co-worker, boss, friend or even a fellow conference attendee?

Open to new ideas, leaning forward, exploring the edges, impatient with the status quo… In a hurry to make something worth making.

Generous when given the opportunity (or restless to find the opportunity when not). Focused on giving people dignity, respect and the chance to speak up. Aware that the single most effective way to move forward is to help others move forward as well.

and connected. Part of the community, not apart from it. Hooked into the realities and dreams of the tribe. Able and interested in not only cheering people on, but shining a light on how they can accomplish their goals.

Paradoxically, the fancier the conference, the more fabled the people around the table, the less likely you are to find these attributes. These attributes, it turns out, have nothing to do with fame or resources. In fact, fear is the damper on all three. Fear of failure, intimacy and vulnerability. Fear closes us up, causes us to self-focus and to disconnect.

When we find our own foundation and are supported in our work by those around us, we can get back to first principles, to realizing our own dreams and making our own art by supporting others first and always.

Planting, harvesting and your fair share

When there is scarcity, we worry a lot about getting our fair share—what goes to him doesn’t go to me. The harvest becomes fraught with danger and competition.

When we worry more about planting, though, sharing the harvest gets a lot less complex.

Plant enough seeds and the scarcity eases. In fact, if you plant enough, you’ll never have to think twice about the harvesting.

10 things to do and be effective

An advantage we all have is the ability to control what we do each day. We can improve our productivity, or not! You decide.  In too many cases, we are the only ones who know when we are falling short of our best level of performance. It’s no surprise that many managers have no idea  regarding the difference between mediocrity and excellence.

clip_image001Effective people have the Key to the secret of success, which is to “Take Action”  Like many of the top performers!    You must keep your driving the pace until  you take flight.

Here are 10 things that effective people do

  • clip_image003Starting early. Sam Walton arrived to work at 3 am. Perhaps a little early for many of us, but we need to get an early start. “The early Bird”
  • Accepting good and bad news as part of moving on!  As you progress up the ladder, you will be in the line of fire, so remember who you pass on the way up!  Because what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.
  • Having a long term perspective. Never thinking about short term gains, thus focusing on building a strong successful foundation success.
  • Avoiding the petty and uninteresting information.  It is counterproductive to spread rumours, be disrespectful or talk bad about colleagues and never criticizing management. Its much better to focus on the task ahead and the results it will bring.
  • Always be professional. Do not lose control. You want others to describe you as a “professional person.” This is the compliment we all strive for thus reaching an important milestone.
  • Focusing on the key areas that bring the results you are aiming for!  At the next meeting, observe and study the leaders of your organization and how they focus on what the important issues are. They have the ability to identify the problems as the professionals they are.
  • Treating others with respect, we are not better, but we have a different look on matters and may have accomplished more in certain areas, we must always appreciate what others bring to the table.
  • Be humble, we do not know everything. We must be open to working in teams.  When we put our minds together, we can tackle enormous projects, which lead to huge benefits for the organization.
  • Confront problems!  Address immediately. Those who are excellent performers are aware of small problems and prevent them from escalating. Taking a proactive approach is preferred.
  • Be committed to sharing the wealth and knowledge. Rewarding those who do well, as we are not solely responsible for the huge accomplishments. Be humble, and praise others publicly and privately when they contribute to our goals and initiatives.
  • Successful people are extraordinary in the sense that they understand the importance of knowledge, commitment, and humility. The process to greatness is well established but realizing it requires significant effort.

Setting and understanding GOALS

From The Secret Daily Teachings

No person or power in the outside world can compare to the power you have within you. Seek the power within, as it knows the perfect way for you.                                                                                                                           May the joy be with you.  Rhonda Byrne

Whenever you set a goal to attain something, the only thing that can hinder you from reaching it is yourself. Sometimes we are too pessimistic that we tend to limit ourselves. If you really want to achieve something, there are plenty of ways to do it but if you don’t want to achieve something, there are plenty of excuses. Bottom line, success ultimately rely on how bad you really want it.

“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” Charles Kingsley

On everyone’s short list of things to do during their lifetime are the accomplishment of worthy goals and the fulfilment of one’s purpose.
Achieving a goal is like opening a combination lock. You need the correct numbers in the correct right, left, right sequence. There are thousands of possible combinations; and if you are aware of the settings but not the sequence, your efforts will prove futile.

The Ten Rules of Goal Setting is the combination that opens the lock of success. Each rule is one piece of the combination; each seamlessly integrates with the other nine; each one counts!
There is a book “Ten Rules of Goal setting” I apologise as I have lost the name of the writer! you will be hard pressed
to find a goal that does not require each of these ten rules.
Not all goals are equal, but all goals contain the same foundational elements.
When it comes to setting goals, we often don’t know what we don’t know.
And, what you don’t know can ad most likely will hurt
you by limiting or compromising your success.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Thomas Edison

Each rule calls for and requires know-how of multiple disciplines. No one is born with all the talents to achieve a goal—you learn as you go on the fly!
Everyone needs to know how to set and achieve a goal. Everyone needs an awareness of proportion and a keen sense of the possible. Everyone needs the will to pursue his or her dreams and to know what it takes to taste victory.
If I could carve ten rules for achieving a goal into the walls of your mind, they would be the ones contained in this book. The ten rules work because they are simple, and they are simple because they work.

Life is too short to waste. Dreams are fulfilled only through action, not through endless planning to take action.” David J. Schwartz

The potential for personal growth and personal expression—as well as for mind-boggling personal wealth—makes this a time of opportunity…a time to create the kind of life that previous generations could not imagine. That is why goal setting is so important.

“In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” Bill Cosby

Success is individual. Your definition of “the good life” may be very different from others’. Yet the underlying steps toward that end are the same. That similarity helps you to understand what success really is.

The only difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is extraordinary determination.” Mary Kay Ash

Success is the ability, first, to recognize opportunity; second, to form plans and strategies that leverage opportunity; and, third, to develop the necessary skills needed to execute those strategies.

“Remember, the thoughts that you think and the statements you make regarding yourself determine your mental attitude. If you have a worthwhile objective, find the one reason why you can achieve it rather than hundreds of reasons why you can’t.” Napoleon Hill

The ten rules, like anything else in life, operate best if they are self-enforced!
Success is beautiful because of how it looks to you, how it works, how it feels, and how it represents the fulfilment of goals pursued. Grow accustomed to prosperity and confident in the process of achieving a goal. Embrace these ten rules of goal setting and give witness to a powerful transition in your life.
My goal is simply to help you achieve yours by teaching you the correct combination and correct sequence. for the book try this persons name, should you wish to purchase it :(Gary Ryan Blair)

Know yourself! Watch how you manifest the small things in life and think about how you felt inside with those things. Think about how easily they came. You will find that you thought of a small thing once and never thought about it again, and then it manifested.     What really happened was you didn’t think any thoughts or speak any words which contradicted what you wanted, so the law of attraction was able to do its work.  May the joy be with you, – Rhonda Byrne The Secret

Dealing with Discouragement

“Recognize that you have the ability to change your perception, thus your health. The mind-body connection exists in all of us.”                      – Cheryln Cluse-Howard

Dealing with discouragement is never easy.

Though we all hope for success at every turn of life, sometimes life decides to deal us a poor hand, and in those moments we are forced to maintain our

composure and find any possible way to remain optimistic about the future.

Develope your own compass and trust it                                                                      If you’re familiar with the subject of positive psychology you’ve likely been introduced to the topic of daily positive affirmations, and you might also be aware that those daily positive affirmations can be used to quiet pain and discomfort, heal the mind and comfort the soul in times of difficulty.

Though we can’t determine when or how difficulties will come our way, we can open our minds to the simple messages of truth and love otherwise known as  positive affirmations.
If you’ve never become acquainted with positive affirmations in the past, here is your chance.
Today we’re counting down the seven daily positive affirmations that can remedy any discouraging situation.

1: I Don’t Need to Pity Myself, Because I’m a Gift to the World

Perhaps the most important thing we can give each other is our attentionIt’s easy to feel self-pity when you’re lacking social support or the presence of others, but in the end you have to tell yourself that you’re too important to feel sorry for yourself.

If you feel alone and sad, remember that you are a gift to all those around you, and without you, this world would not be the same. Tell yourself those words over and over again until you can honestly admit that you truly are a gift.

2: I Know How to Make the Right Choices for Me

Life has its pains and evils its bitter disapppointmentsMaking life decisions (especially important decisions), never seems quite as easy as it should be.

Negative thinking comes naturally if you’re afraid of making an incorrect decision because of past mistakes, or because you’re so concerned about the future that you can’t imagine messing it up with one small alteration to your current path. Either way, you need to learn to trust yourself with your own life. Understand that you are the captain of your life, and as long as you can trust you, everything will ALWAYS work out. No exceptions.

3: I Inhale Calmness and Exhale Anxiety

You may not control all the events that happen to you but you can decide not to be reduced by themThings happen everyday that cause us fear or anxiety, but there is a way to handle those situations.

Each time you feel like you’re incapable of making it through a difficult moment in your life, try telling yourself that each time you breathe in you’re inhaling feelings of calmness, and each time you exhale you’re breathing out the fear and anxiety. It may take some getting used to, but in time you’ll be able to master your own fear.

4: I Choose to Replace Anger With Forgiveness and Compassion

By refusing to allow stress into your life you can keep your imune system strongAnger can cause us unnecessary stress and actually damage the health of our bodies and minds over time. Some individuals are more prone to anger than others, but everyone can make the choice to replace anger with forgiveness and compassion, including you and I.

Next time you feel your body fill with anger, tell yourself that you choose to not be angry at the mistakes of others, your own poor choices, or the natural events of life. Instead choose to forgive others for their mistakes, forgive yourself for your own mistakes, and fill your heart and soul with love and compassion.

5: I Choose Hope and Optimism Over Pessimism

Stay strong through the storms lof lifeWhen negative thoughts enter your mind, it’s easy to become a slave to those thoughts and give up hope of a better day. But even though it’s difficult, it’s still possible with a little extra effort.

The next time you sense a negative thought entering your mind, remind yourself that you’ve committed to choose hope and optimism. Tell yourself that even though today may not be as rewarding as you’d hoped it to be, you’ll garner lessons from it and be better prepared to enjoy the positive blessings of tomorrow.

6: I Choose to See Friends and Loved Ones as a Gift

love because it is the only true adventureYour loved ones are in your life for a reason. Sometimes we just need a shoulder to cry on, or we need someone to tell us that we’re on the right track. You shouldn’t base all your self-confidence on what others believe you to be, but if you can admit that your loved ones are a gift, you won’t feel so alone when problems come your way.

7: I’ve Dealt With Hardship, and Because of That I’m a Stronger Person

No one is exempt from life trials, but the people who deal with them best are the ones who garner strength from previous struggles.

Decisions prove to be hardest to make especial;y when it is a choiceIf you admit defeat whenever a difficult situation arises, you’ll be one step closer to letting negative thoughts and feelings invade your life. If on the other hand you choose to recognize your hardships and use that as a foundation for future hope and success, you’ll be better off for it.

Whenever a difficult trial comes, use this list of positive affirmations to remind yourself that you are strong Affirm Your Abundance.

Success comes to those who become success-conscious. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become failure-conscious.                   – Napoleon Hill

4 Foundational Principles for Harmony in Your Home

Christa OLearyIf I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

I wish that someone had given me a blueprint for leading my best life years ago. I am thankful that I can share my more than 20 years of academic and experiential insights with you to help you design your own inspired life.

Practicing the Home in Harmony lifestyle guided me to a healthy, vibrant, and joyful existence. Although my life has had its share of trials, I am grateful for the journey—which has also been filled with glorious moments that have left me in awe. Each moment, good or bad, has brought me to where I am today. Collectively, these moments have given me the experience, training, and expertise to teach this amazing lifestyle to you.

The foundation of designing an inspired, healthy and vibrant home, body, mind and spirit is intended to help you define and navigate your own sacred path. Let’s look at these four foundational pillars:

1. Home: Our home environments either nurture us or drain our energy. You either walk into your home and say “Thank goodness I’m home,” or you look at the stack of clutter on the table and feel defeat.

2. Body: There is an old saying that goes something like this: “If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.” Our health affects every other area of our life. It’s important to create a body that exudes energy, good health, and vitality.

3. Mind: It’s important in our fast-paced world to find the calm in the midst of chaos. Gaining a clear mind is critical to living your best life.

4. Soul: Studies have shown that a vital component to finding bliss and inner harmony is to find your purpose in life and share it with the world.

When I step back and look at my life, I see a rich, luxurious tapestry woven from a vibrant array of colourful threads. At this distance, a beautiful pattern emerges. But my individual life experiences—the separate strands within the tapestry—didn’t make sense at first, because they were so varied. Similarly, the individual pillars of the Home in Harmony have significance on their own—but together they create a truly inspired life.

The four foundational pillars of the Home in Harmony can help you design the magnificent tapestry of your life. This is a template for extraordinary and inspired living. I encourage you to utilize its four pillars as the structure for a beautifully designed life.

Having an inspired home, a healthy body, a calm mind, and a radiant inner light will help you not just survive but thrive. More specifically, you want to develop a home environment that nurtures you physically, mentally, and spiritually; a level of health and vitality that allows you to move through each day with grace and ease; a tranquil mind that rises above the chaos of modern living; and a state of passionate purpose that lets you share your shining gifts with the world.

If we give kids the foundation to dream, they will figure out the grammar and the history the minute it helps them to reach their goals and make a difference. – Seth
