6 Ways to Keep Life in Perspective

IfAkram Alashari I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

Here are the top six pieces of advice that can increase the quality of life and easily keep it in perspective:

1) Nothing in life has any inherent meaning; it only has the meaning you assign to it. Shakespeare once said, “There is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

You can actively change the meaning of any circumstance in your life to one that empowers you. The way to do that is by asking empowering questions. These questions will lead to empowering answers. Here are a few examples:

  • What is good about this?
  • What is funny about this?
  • How is this making me stronger or smarter?
  • How can this help me and others?

2) We become what we think about. By the law of cause and effect, what we think about in our lives, we bring about in our lives. This occurs whether we are consciously aware of our thoughts or not. This works because our thoughts are a cause set in motion. These thoughts will attract things in our lives that will allow these thoughts to manifest in physical reality. This is the basis of self-actualization. So be careful what you think about.

3) Conformity is the killer of creativity and individuality. There is nobody on the planet that is quite like you. There is also nobody who has ever lived, nor anybody who will ever live, that will be exactly like you. You are literally one-of-a-kind. You are unique.

Trying to be like anybody else, or a group of people, is an exercise in futility. Not only is it futile, but it is detrimental. The one thing you have is your individuality. Embrace it and capitalize on your personal strengths.

When the majority of people are doing something a certain way, it does not mean that it is the best way. It means that it is the average way. Strive to be excellent, not average.

4) A sense of gratitude can immediately increase your quality of life. Thinking about and being grateful for the things you have increases joy, happiness, and overall outlook on life. What you focus on expands and when you focus on what you have, you bring more of it into your life. This also cultivates an attitude of a sense of abundance. When you focus on what’s missing, you cultivate pessimism, cynicism, and quality of life goes down. This leads to a sense of scarcity and negativity.

5) Most people regret the things they didn’t do, not the things they did do. Your life is singular and finite. Take chances and enjoy life. You only live once. Make this one-time experience great, fun, exciting, and full of joy and happiness.

6) Focus on the things you can control, and do not focus on the things you cannot control. Allowing things that you cannot control to upset you will set you up for frustration and decrease your quality of life. There is absolutely no point in getting upset about things such as the weather, traffic, and other people.

Instead, focus on things you can control, and you give yourself more power and leverage to affect your life. The one thing that you can always control is your attitude.

You often cannot control your circumstances, but you can control how you decide to respond to your life circumstances.

Afraid of failure?

“If I had to live my life again, I’d make the same mistakes, only sooner.”—Tallulah Bankhead

Afraid of Failure? Read the following steps

Steps to Break Down Failure

Have you ever felt like a failure? I totally have. But I am not alone.

There is an epidemic of feelings of failure in any country and failure is so definitive. When you think you failed, there is not much wiggle room to be anything other than “a failure.” A horrible way to see yourself! This becomes a belief ingrained and tainting everything else we do and try. Here are four ways to break it down.

A. Lower Your Expectations

Failure is in relation to something. Usually some standard or expectation that was not met: I am not thin enough, pretty enough, smart enough. Having unreasonable expectations is more detrimental on our health than anything else. It brings in judgment, which compounds every other problem we already have.

When we have a feeling which is appropriate to the situation, and then we judge ourselves, then we worry! the problem becomes so much bigger and harder to recover from. Then, we berate ourselves for not recovering quickly with another layer of judgment. The original feeling is nothing compared to the complex mess and layers of our own judgement and fear.

Do not add them. Allow yourself to feel and do not worry, you can handle it. Be gentle and compassionate with yourself, lower those outrageous expectations! Instead of dwelling, do something. Seek a “Mentor with a Servant’s Heart”

  B. Know there is a point to trying

Past feelings of failure attempt to take away our point to trying to feel better or accomplish something. We get convinced that we will fail anyway. We assume trying hard will make us more disappointed when we do actually fail, and so we put less effort in in hopes to protect our heart. With less effort, we may actually not achieve our goal and we can say “See? I always fail. Good thing I did not try.”

The point is “Rarely is anything accomplished without trying” And if we try and don’t succeed, our heart actually feels better, not worse. We build confidence knowing that we did our best. We feel empowered because we can respond to things in life. This is giving in to your fears

  C. Notice your accomplishment

Simple. See the good in you instead of the bad. Focus on something else beside that one standard you missed. Have confidence in the efforts you did put forth. Notice other things you received from the process, a good example are  friends you’ve made along the journey and “ what you have  learned”  and how it made you grow. Remember all other accomplishments in your life. be positive

  D. Remember it is not over

We sometimes assume we failed too soon. Then we feel devastated and stop trying. If you are still alive, you could not have failed, since it is not over. Yes, your standards and expectation might change, but if you are still kicking, you cannot by definition be a failure. Readjust your expectations and try again ALWAYS -  Never Give up!!!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can……. I can, I can!

6 lessons to live by Ari Emanuel

PMA Added…

When you demand a blessing, what you’re demanding is of you.
You’re demanding yourself to change your attitude. You’re demanding yourself to see it differently. You’re demanding yourself to open up to the truth of who you are, and then naturally the results will become different.
Matter must obey the intent of consciousness, and is obeying the intent of consciousness.
Your body, your affairs, your relationships, your money — all of it is obeying the intent of your consciousness, right now.
What we demand is that we expand our awareness. Here’s To The Expansion.

The Six Lessons I Live By

clip_image001 Ari Emanuel

1. Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you and move out of their way.

If you feel like you know everything, you’re wrong. I know what I don’t know and then I find partners who can teach me. A perfect example is my partnership with Patrick Whitesell, my co-CEO at WME. While we take on different roles at the company and focus on different things, we share the same goals and at the end of the day, we’re working toward the same end. That’s been the key to our success.

2. The only constant in business is change. Get comfortable with it.

When I started in the business, there were four broadcast networks and 19 cable networks. Now there are five broadcast networks, 117 cable networks, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, HBOGo, iTunes, Amazon Prime, VOD – the list goes on and on. Next year there will be more distribution platforms, and in ten years the landscape will have shifted another 180 degrees. The business is changing quickly, and the only way to succeed is to change with it. I always tell my colleagues, there is no such thing as a traditional talent agent anymore. It’s about pushing beyond that 10% commission and finding opportunity where it didn’t exist before.

3. Fail often, fail quickly.

Nobody fucks up like I do, but you’ll never succeed unless you take risks. Big ones. In 2009, we took Endeavor, a company that was doing incredibly well, and merged it with the oldest talent agency in the world. From a cultural and organizational standpoint, it was a big risk. People had their doubts. But we had a vision and a lot of help from very smart people (see #1.) Three years later, our business is stronger, our bench is deeper and smarter, and our deal-making is more innovative. It’s a better company – period. You have to lead by example if you want to promote a culture where risk-taking is rewarded.

4. Your schedule makes you dumber.

Force yourself outside of your daily schedule. Be curious and take time to learn about worlds outside of the one you live in. Watch the news, read the paper, educate yourself. Don’t be afraid to call people you don’t know, start a conversation, and ask for things you need. At the very least, you’ll be more interesting. At the most, you’ll take your business in new and bigger directions.

5. You only get one shot – make it count.

I learned this the painful way. After being hit by a car and lying face-down in the middle of Wilshire Boulevard, I was confronted with a whole lot more than my mortality. Take advantage of each day that’s given to you and do something to move the needle on your business, even if it’s just an inch. You’ve heard it before, but life is not a dress rehearsal. Don’t waste your time (or mine.)

6. Good ideas rule all.

In the end, it’s all about creative ideas and content – it’s the lifeblood of our business. I’m fortunate enough to work with the writers, directors, musicians and actors who are defining culture with their voices. It’s why I come to work in the morning. In 100 years, when the world looks different, and we communicate in new ways, and we have more devices and platforms and distribution methods, I believe great artistry will still matter most.

ed……

Life is an ever-upward progression, seeking to express itself through every one of us. This entire universe is in an evolving process of becoming.  There’s an opportunity to view what looks like a problem to us, as we would view a child’s difficulties.  When we can see a child’s difficulties from the adult perspective, we know the child will get past it.
We know that with new learning and understanding we get a bigger paradigm.  We can experience becoming greater than the "problem" we’re facing, and with that, life brings the empowering result that we’re holding in mind and energizing with our beliefs.

Never Forget to Live

If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others… Mark Bowness

The greatest revelation you can have is that you live life once. Many would consider such a statement to be a trite saying, instantly dismissing it and in doing so, negating a powerful tool for radical transformation.

Never ever simply “get used” to the fact that you are alive. Never ever exist on earth and yet never truly live.

Life is a precious gift: wear this truth around your neck like a scarf, every single day. Keep this truth on your lips, in your mind, and in your heart, in every situation you encounter and in every conversation that takes place.

With such a viewpoint, you will have the ability to truthfully see into the souls of others and in doing so, you’ll view anger as a protection and blame as a coat with which to cover up hurt. You will see real meaning and deeper truths and no longer respond with cross words, but with bursts of radiant light that bring healing, comfort and transformation. For this is your purpose.

The world owes you nothing. You were not created to be a drain on society, to take, to keep, and to squander. You exist for a purpose – your purpose is contribution. Quit telling yourself your ‘woe is me’ story that drains your mind, energy and conversation. Here is the truth: No one cares. The more you wallow, the less of a chance you have of experiencing the real, beautiful, intangible joy that comes from living life for real.

Everything that you see around you – that you can feel, touch or use was first created in the minds of those who believed that these things could be. Stop harping on about the way that your life is and start visualizing what it could be. As we dwell upon our dreams, we are empowered to become.

You exist to give, to contribute in abundance. When you do so, you will experience the secret gift of giving.

The world has its problems. Oftentimes the horrors and atrocities that we see on our screens become too hard to bear; we gain compassion fatigue, so we block them out or we send some spare change just to ease our conscience.

To truly make a difference, start changing your own life – be the best, the biggest, the highest self. The overflow of your own change will be like a bubbling brook soaking itself upon those around you, powerfully impacting your community. Your community is the place that you should start, to give, to change, to hope, to love and as you do – you really will start to change the world.

Throw off your guilt. Discard it like the day’s rubbish: it serves no purpose.

Know that deep inside, you are resilient, brave, and so much stronger and more powerful than your fears.

Most of all understand this: You are beautiful. Allow this truth to sink in to your body, mind, and spirit, allow it to flow through your veins touching every organ, every tissue, every sinew, filling you with energy and power as it flows. There is absolutely nothing you can do that will ever take away from the beauty that is you.

Do not let others tell you any other truth, do not let your mind force you to believe any other lie. Do not allow any wrong previous acts to fill you with guilt. No matter what you do, you remain beautiful.

Go now and start changing worlds

We are here to help YOU
