How You Can Choose Wealth Over Riches

If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

Mahisha DellingerI’m proud of my financial position in life, but contrary to what a lot of people may think, I never aspired to be rich. I wanted to be wealthy. It wasn’t always that way, though. I think there was a lot of fear driving me. Fear of being poor again and fear of going back to that impoverished life from my childhood.

Being rich and being wealthy seem to be synonymous with success. However, there’s a big difference between the two. The main difference between being rich and being wealthy is knowledge. Wealthy people know how to make money, while rich people only have money. Rich people are motivated by money, but wealthy people are motivated by their dreams, purpose and passion. Most rich people make a lot of money with their paychecks but the moment they stop working, they also stop making money. Wealth, true wealth, is often generational money and money that works for you.

Most people do want to be rich. We want to enjoy the fruits of their labor and live a life that is more fortunate and ultimately extravagant than the average man. We dream of having the nice things. These are things that everyone wants, but very few actually achieve. Essentially, it comes down to the person and their mindset. It also comes down to their purpose, motivation and will power. It’s never the ones that are just motivated by money, it’s the ones who are motivated to change the world and build a legacy because that is what wealth really is.

Your ability to cultivate desire and take persistent action is what will make you successful, not your natural talents. It’s all about consistent daily action. Wealthy and rich people both may experience downfalls and failures in their ventures. However, wealthy people are knowledgeable when it comes to money matters and can start all over again and build wealth over time.

The key to acquiring wealth is to regularly monitor and increase your passive and portfolio income by increasing your means to earn and decreasing your expenses. The moment you decide to make passive and portfolio income a part of your financial habit and discipline yourself in building it, you are on your way to financial freedom.

This is the path in maintaining a strong wealth foundation. Never forget that what you do on a daily basis determines your habits, and your habits determine who you are, what you accomplish, and the legacy you leave. People will measure you by what you do and what you have managed to accomplish in your lifetime, which then of course leads to your legacy.

If you have inspired people and they can share and tell your story for generations to come, then you have created wealth in your life. You have left a legacy. You have done something different – you didn’t settle for simply being rich.

I don’t work for my money. It works for me. That’s the key to separating the wealthy from the rich. While I am still working diligently on my plan to independent wealth, I am confident I am on the right path. Which path will you choose?

You Are Brave, Bold, Loving, Kind and Confident

Sandip SekhonIf I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

Your job, your absolute duty is to embrace every feeling that increases long-term happiness. Nothing else is more important. Once you live by this guideline, every single day will be happier than the day before you read this email. Just by reading this sentence, you have already sparked long-term positive change that will only increase as you read on and make my suggestions your own.

From now on, in every situation, you will be brave, bold, loving, kind and confident. Take a second to reflect on each of those words and what they mean for you.

Tell yourself everyday that you are all of that and more. Every. Single. Day. Within a week you will inhibit and exhibit each of those qualities more than you did before.

Avoid hate and anger. If you feel them coming over you, take a deep breath and remember what you told yourself the day before. That you’re brave, bold, loving, kind and confident. Your illuminated day has no time for negative thoughts and feelings. You know these feelings. You understand them and you decide that you will only embrace positivity.

Sure, you may slip up from time to time. But once you have taken a step back, you WILL be able to deal with any situation better with your new-found positive qualities. Embody them. Starting today, when someone describes you, they will use one of these. Hear them say it: “You’re brave, bold, loving, kind and confident”.

These qualities will naturally take you further into your journey of inspiration, positivity and learning. By reading this, you have already shown that you are one of the few people in the world that consciously seeks improvement. Embrace that. Let it shine in your daily life.

Continually remind yourself of what each of these words that you now embody really mean; being brave, bold, loving, kind and confident.

Love your new suit or dress but concerned that others might not? Arouse your inner confidence and I promise you will look and feel amazing.

Are you dealing with an unreasonable or rude client? Treat them to your endless kindness – they will have no option but to melt in your presence.

Is your child testing your limits? Set a spectacular example of yourself by being all that you are in one go: brave, bold, loving, kind and confident.

There’s a reason for my repetition of those words. By reading them again and again, by experiencing the emotions associated to them, you have fired the right connections in your brain so those positive feelings are stronger than when you started this email. You have just passed the first step to live a happier, more positive life. Keep going, I promise it’ll be worth it.

Follow the leader

Leadership lesson 8 stand guard at the door of your mindWe all have been told, (at least I have) how important events are to not only get the information, but it is vitally important to associate with the leaders and future leaders that will help propel your business to the next level.

What qualities do we know leaders have that we want to follow to become leaders ourselves? That is a very important question to ask yourself! A leader must be a servant and a debtor. His first responsibility is to define reality and then say thank you.

Even if you don’t see yourself as a leader right now, that is where you want to be in order to create your dreams. First be a leader that leads yourself and your family.

There are only two tools available to the educator. The easy one is fear. Fear is easy to awake, easy to maintain, but ultimately toxic. Other tool is passion.

Greatness is frightening. With it comes responsibility- Seth Godin

Here is a list to start you off:

  • Leaders are great followers as they followed great leaders to become leaders themselves Find the person that you can most learn from even if you are not sure you can fill their shoes. At first you will not be able to, but who do you think you can learn the most from? (Every great leader has someone he has looked up to and learned from)
  • Leaders are plugged in By being plugged in to the events, the calls the community you can always have your finger on what is happening in your business. (attends events both the ones nearby and the ones that require travel)
  • Leaders lead by example Your team is only as good as what you yourself do, even if they cannot always see you. I always thought that was interesting but it was uncanny, if I was off, so was my team, if I was hot so was my team. (he never expects of others what he wouldn’t do himself)
  • Leaders take responsibility We never blame others for things we did or others did. Its still up to us what we do after something happens, blame doesn’t have anything to do with it. (he doesn’t ever waste time playing the blame game)
  • Leaders have integrity This is a word many have not learned but is so key today. Its more than just being honest, its the core of your being. (he knows the trust he builds with others is built on his own character and integrity)
  • Leaders make themselves available This one is really a big one for me. If we do not help and support our team members what do we have. Its not about showing off but showing how. (He sees himself as a leader and helper)
  • Leaders have charisma (confidence and posture) He never hangs his success on anyone certain individual. It is the pure just knowing where you are going which is so powerful!
  • Leaders never quit. (If he fails temporarily he simply looks at it from another angle and keeps on going! Its the ability to get back up and keep going that makes the leaders so attractive to others.

Sure you are going to get new tools and definitely encouragement and new belief. But I believe the most important thing is to pay attention to the pattern that leaders set and follow those patterns.

Afraid of failure?

“If I had to live my life again, I’d make the same mistakes, only sooner.”—Tallulah Bankhead

Afraid of Failure? Read the following steps

Steps to Break Down Failure

Have you ever felt like a failure? I totally have. But I am not alone.

There is an epidemic of feelings of failure in any country and failure is so definitive. When you think you failed, there is not much wiggle room to be anything other than “a failure.” A horrible way to see yourself! This becomes a belief ingrained and tainting everything else we do and try. Here are four ways to break it down.

A. Lower Your Expectations

Failure is in relation to something. Usually some standard or expectation that was not met: I am not thin enough, pretty enough, smart enough. Having unreasonable expectations is more detrimental on our health than anything else. It brings in judgment, which compounds every other problem we already have.

When we have a feeling which is appropriate to the situation, and then we judge ourselves, then we worry! the problem becomes so much bigger and harder to recover from. Then, we berate ourselves for not recovering quickly with another layer of judgment. The original feeling is nothing compared to the complex mess and layers of our own judgement and fear.

Do not add them. Allow yourself to feel and do not worry, you can handle it. Be gentle and compassionate with yourself, lower those outrageous expectations! Instead of dwelling, do something. Seek a “Mentor with a Servant’s Heart”

  B. Know there is a point to trying

Past feelings of failure attempt to take away our point to trying to feel better or accomplish something. We get convinced that we will fail anyway. We assume trying hard will make us more disappointed when we do actually fail, and so we put less effort in in hopes to protect our heart. With less effort, we may actually not achieve our goal and we can say “See? I always fail. Good thing I did not try.”

The point is “Rarely is anything accomplished without trying” And if we try and don’t succeed, our heart actually feels better, not worse. We build confidence knowing that we did our best. We feel empowered because we can respond to things in life. This is giving in to your fears

  C. Notice your accomplishment

Simple. See the good in you instead of the bad. Focus on something else beside that one standard you missed. Have confidence in the efforts you did put forth. Notice other things you received from the process, a good example are  friends you’ve made along the journey and “ what you have  learned”  and how it made you grow. Remember all other accomplishments in your life. be positive

  D. Remember it is not over

We sometimes assume we failed too soon. Then we feel devastated and stop trying. If you are still alive, you could not have failed, since it is not over. Yes, your standards and expectation might change, but if you are still kicking, you cannot by definition be a failure. Readjust your expectations and try again ALWAYS -  Never Give up!!!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can……. I can, I can!

3 Steps For Fearlessly Following Your Dreams

If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

Michelle VandepasFollowing your passions, listening to your heart and soul’s purpose, and even throwing caution to the wind when following a whim can be great for spontaneous, inspired living. Too often, however, people take huge risks in the name of following their heart’s desire, without realistically addressing the risks and fears. In the pursuit of following our desires, we lose all semblances of common sense and just hope and dream that everything will work out.

Fear can often be our friend. It can be a useful tool to help us discern when we are unprepared – perhaps putting ourselves in financial or emotional danger. Fear can also run rampant, totally out of control without context if we don’t address it head on, and confront what we are really scared of.

Tapping into creativity and following one’s gut is paramount in building a successful business, but you’d better have a plan too. If you don’t, fear can come up and paralyze you, and rightly so. In business, fear is often an indicator that you are off track, that the extra expense wasn’t planned for, or that a customer isn’t going to pay.

I want to share a practical way to address your fears and the risks of following your dreams.

  1. When working on a new project, list all of your fears.
  2. Discern which ones are ‘real’. For example, maybe you think I won’t have enough money. Or No one will like what I have to offer.
  3. Address each fear with a plan of action. Maybe you save for three extra months or cut costs before venturing out. Or, perhaps you do a bit of test marketing to discover what your clients really want.

If you discover the fear is totally unfounded and it is a subconscious or pattern in your life, then you can find a way to ease your fears and start taking small daily steps to build up your confidence and calm the fears.

Perhaps you have a fear of starting your own business. That might be a a realistic fear with lots of real dangers – but if you’ve got strengths, talents, clients and expertise in your field, then you’ll have confidence to build from. (No clients yet? Go get just one. Nothing calms entrepreneurial fears like a paying client!)

It is amazing how a plan helps turn fear into butterflies – life plans built from excitement rather than from unnecessary worries.

When fear comes up to bite you in the face, don’t just turn your back on it, or just plow through and ‘do it anyway’. Take a step back for just a day or a moment, and determine what that fear, if anything, is trying to tell you. Then, when you’ve addressed the fear with a plan, you’ll discover it magically disappears. I call this following your heart, and using your brain!
