Be Inspired by Camille Lucy 7 Ways to Slow Down and Live Full Today

PMA Added…

Begin your day by feeling grateful. Be grateful for the bed you just slept in, the roof over your head, the carpet or floor under your feet, the running water, the soap, your shower, your toothbrush, your clothes, your shoes, the refrigerator that keeps your food cold, the car that you drive, your job, your friends. Be grateful for the stores that make it so easy to buy the things you need, the restaurants, the utilities, services, and electrical appliances that make your life effortless. Be grateful for the magazines and the books that you read. Be grateful for the chair that you sit on, and the pavement that you walk on. Be grateful for the weather, the sun, the sky, the birds, the trees, the grass, the rain, and the flowers.

Camille LucyOften times, our days get ahead of us and by the time night falls, we cannot even remember what we did or how the hours passed by so quickly. Here are some ways you can catch yourself from running blindly through your day like a tornado, missing everything, so that you can live fully and with intention.

  1. Set intentions. This may sound silly, but the way in which you wake will determine much of your day. When you open your eyes (before anyone – human or companion animal – notices you are awake), take a few moments to pay attention to your breath. Slow your mind, do not let it race off thinking about your stressors. Set an intention for the day. What do you want to accomplish and how do you want to feel today?
  2. Be grateful. As you are setting your intention, spend an extra moment thinking about all that you are grateful for. Perhaps you may want to jot this down in a “gratitude journal.” According to the Harvard Health Publications, “In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness.” Focusing on what is good in your life will sprinkle your day with more happiness!
  3. Get moving. Spend another moment stretching and moving your body. Connect with how you feel, physically and emotionally. Take inventory of your thoughts, and of the signals your body is sending you.
  4. Step outside. According to Marilyn Price-Mitchell, Ph.D. in The Moment of Youth, research suggests that “’nature relatedness has a distinct happiness benefit’ beyond the more generalized benefit of feeling connected to family, friends, and home. Our connection to nature also correlated with most measures of human well-being, indicating it may play an extremely important role in maintaining positive mental health.” Spending some time outdoors before you begin your day will help ground you and improve your overall well-being.
  5. Be mindful. Sure enough, at some point during the day you will be racing around, again. Try to remember to slow down while doing everyday tasks such as walking the dog or washing your hands. The MindfulMinute.org suggests, “The next time you wash your hands, slow down the process by paying attention to the feel of your hands as you turn on and off the faucet. Listen to the sounds of the water flowing through and from the pipes. Feel the soap as you apply it to your hands and smell its aroma. Bring awareness to the movement of your hands and fingers–to the feel of the water as it plays against your hands. To the temperature.” Exercises such as this one will aid you in becoming more present with your day.
  6. Be kind. Kindness is a universal language, and everyone benefits from it. Mark Twain said, “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Pay it forward, kindness is contagious and before you know it, one kind act has snowballed into dozens performed by others as a result.
  7. Check in with yourself. Lastly, it is important to check in with yourself to see how you are feeling throughout the day. Acknowledging and accepting your emotions and feelings, whether they be what you consider “good” or “bad” ones, can help you to release the junk that is holding you back and keeping you stuck. It allows you to let go and move forward rather than fester and spiral into a negative or anxious head space.

Peaceful Cup of TeaTry these seven tips out for a while and see how you feel. Implementation into your life – and routine – will help you to remain more present and therefore enjoy (and remember) your day more. As you get comfortable, feel free to improvise and add your own twist to the list! Find what resonates with you and makes you feel good. And do more of that!

If I could share 500 words to inspire, this is the important wisdom I’d want to pass along to others…

You are not diminished by your pain. Your spirituality is not measured by the presence or absence of difficulty in your life. Challenge is not a punishment or a reward. It is not a reflection of your value to the world; it is a reflection of your choice to grow and learn and make mistakes.

Although your thoughts and attitudes attract and create your life, you are not your thoughts.

“Your thoughts control your experience of reality. But your thoughts cannot affect, or change, or control, or even touch who you are.”~ Paul Williams, Remember Your Essence

Remembering your essence will awaken you to the realization that humans are magnificent beings with unlimited potential. Not remembering doesn’t change who you are.

Challenge yourself to look beyond the circumstances of your life and recognize the truly magnificent soul inside. Then, look beyond the circumstances of every person you meet and see his or her essence.

In the book The Game of Life and How to Play It, Florence Scovel Shinn proposes that if one person holds another in a vision of wholeness, that person cannot fail. Do you hold yourself in a vision of wholeness? How do you see the people around you: your parents, children, partners, friends? Is the first thought of them of their failures?

Or, can you be the one person who sees them in the wholeness of their path as a person with divine essence, growing?

We are in a planetary time of transition. Ancient cultures like the Maya have said this is a time of expansion when the old will crumble to make way for the new. Certainly the old is crumbling as economies, governments and religious institutions fail. The planet itself is in flux: earthquakes, volcanoes, extreme weather occur more frequently.

In this transition we have the opportunity to embrace the quantum physics implication that everything is connected to everything else. The universe is undivided, entangled and whole. At its essence, it is energy.

Accessing your unlimited potential occurs when you engage the energy basis of life. Through the act of directing energy with your mind and heart, you help create the direction of our collective future.

What that direction will be depends on the awareness with which each of us makes our choices and how we behave in the trials underway. What we do depends on our beliefs about reality and on what we hold as precious.

It’s time to define what we believe and what we treasure. It’s time to engage life from the realm of energy and create our highest vision of wholeness.

Ultimately, we are all in this together. In the transition underway, none of us makes it unless all of us do. Enjoy life, enjoy this process of expansion, and choose love. Move beyond the polarity of good and bad, of us and them, into singularity. Follow your heart and engage the path of energy.

The Psychological Hierarchy of the Email Campaign

Simms Jenkins  CEO   BrightWave Marketing

This has to be passed on in its original format

The relationship between the email marketer and the email subscriber is an unspoken alliance, and also a source of constant tension and potential. The email marketer owes her job, database, and likely revenue to the subscriber who provides permission in exchange for (hopefully) special offers, content, and respect and relevancy. The email marketer often loses sight of this invaluable permission during the march to some interdepartmental meeting or shared goal.

Too often the email program becomes focused on the business objective and loses sight of the email subscriber. Without her, the email program is worth nothing. It is just an ad buy to eyeballs versus a targeted message to people who asked for targeted messages. That’s the secret sauce of email, and once you lose sight of it you head down a slippery slope.

Where the challenge needs to meet the reality is evidenced in this graphic created by my talented colleague.

interaction-hierarchy-pyramid1

Each of these stages on both sides of the aisle are key – B2C, B2B, marketing automation, or batch-and-blast. It’s the DNA to a successful email program, so let’s review the path to success and inbox delight.

The Inbox

Your first chance to get noticed is often driven by your from line or maybe subject line. A busy consumer may be more on the lookout of what to delete or save for later. Mobile compounds this, so if you don’t stand out you likely won’t get read.

Open/Read

While there is brand awareness level and the power of a delayed purchase due to email, you want your email to be read and opened. Duh! Subscribers likely will scan your message that might have taken weeks to craft in mere seconds. The key is to make it clear what the value is for the subscriber, not your marketing goals.

Click

Moving up the pyramid and into subscribers’ psyche, the email needs to win their attention and gain their expressed action – in many cases a click. A subscriber is demonstrating their intent and that’s a significant goal of any marketer. If the call-to-action is buried, not mobile-friendly, or lacks clarity, you will lose this opportunity. Make it easy and the path clear.

Buy/Conversion

We aim to not just convert our subscribers but often surprise and delight them. An email subscriber is a VIP by virtue of providing permission, but many marketers fail to deliver the goods. Whether a special offer, unique content, or just something cool (and on brand), add something to close the deal and further in cent the subscriber not only to buy but possibly to share her advocacy for your brand, service, or product.

A perfect email is often elusive but making sure your message lines up with these components and subscriber psychology is essential in today’s crowed inbox. Your subscribers have let you in to this coveted space so make the most of it!
