You can tell right now in the major areas of your life whether you have been given more good feelings or more bad feelings.  How you feel about each subject in your life, such as money, health, your job and every individual relationship, is an exact reflection of what you have been giving out on each subject.

If your feel bad when you think about money, it is because you do not have enough, you must receive back negative circumstances and experiences of not having enough money; because that is the negative feeling you are giving.

Positive Mind or Negative Mind – Choices

Apologies for no blogs recently Surgery took over my time for a while.  Now Back for a while.
Positive or Negative?

What is your prevailing state of mind? Is it primarily positive or negative?

I believe it is important to maintain a positive state of mind as much as possible, for three different reasons.

Firstly, I believe that everything that happens to me personally originates from within.  If I constantly think negative thoughts, negative things will happen to me.  In other words, I strongly believe in the Law of Attraction. Whatever I focus on most will be attracted to me, be it good or bad.  Why attract bad things when, if you choose, you can attract good things instead?

Secondly, I believe my state of mind spreads to those around me.  You do not have to believe in magic just because I  do or any of the “new thought” philosophies, even though I do, to believe you “infect” those around you with your moods.  Imagine being in a room of people who are all in a bad mood and are showing this, for example, through their facial expressions.  How does that make you feel?  I would be most surprised if it made you feel happy!  Wouldn’t you want to get out of that room as quickly as possible so you didn’t become miserable?  Now imagine being in a room where everyone is happy.  True, some people do react badly to this, so it is not quite as simple as it seems.  But as long as there is not something deep within you that resents the happiness (for example if you have just lost a loved one) you will probably find the happiness is infectious too.

Lastly, if you have the choice of being happy or sad, which would you choose?  Surely you would wish to be happy wouldn’t you?  If you have a positive state of mind you are much more likely to be happy than sad.  Happiness is not something external but rather comes from inside you.  The things that happen to you do not, of themselves, make you happy or sad.  They may trigger a happy or sad state of mind, but the key word here is “trigger”.  It is not what happens itself that causes you to be happy or sad, but your state of mind.  So why not choose to have a positive state of mind that makes you happy.

Realistic Optimism

Recently I heard a so-called expert on the radio assert that the “normal” state of mind of British people is pessimism.  He berated those who are optimistic and said they should just accept the “normal” pessimistic state of mind which is the heritage of the British.

Why?  I am British, and I certainly do not accept this point of view.  I do accept that many are pessimists, and this is not restricted to the British.  Indeed, some sales trainers tell us that the way to motivate British buyers is to get them to move away from the things they fear rather than towards the things they want.  That may be true, but it doesn’t have to be.

We can choose to be optimistic if we wish.  By all means realistic, but still optimistic.  By “realistic” I mean not always so expecting the best outcome that we are shocked and disappointed when it doesn’t happen.  But by “optimistic” I mean knowing that good things will happen, even if there are sometimes some less pleasant interludes on the way.  Be prepared for the worst, but expect the best!

Victim Mind set

Many people have what is called a “victim mind state”.  They are always asking “why does this happen to me?”  They view themselves as always being the victim of unfortunate circumstances.  If you believe you are a victim you will interpret everything that happens to you in this way.

Notice the choice of words here – “happens to you”.  Victims have a grandiose sense of their own importance.  Everything that happens is something happening to them.  Not impersonal.  Not just one of those things.  But a part of a universal conspiracy to make them miserable.  They are the centre of the universe.  Not a kind universe but an evil, threatening universe.

Guess what?  If that is the way you think you will start attracting those bad situations to you.  Even when you are in a good situation, though, you will manage to find something bad within it.  You will find the elements that support your view that you are a victim.

If you are a victim, escaping from this state of mind is not easy.  But it is something you must do unless you want to stay miserable all your life.

The universe is not conspiring against you.  It wants nothing more than to give you all the good things you want and deserve.  But as long as you keep asking it for the bad things (which is what you are doing when you fall into the trap of the victim mindstate) it will give them to you.  As it says in Matthew 7:7 – “Ask and it shall be given to you”.  That applies just as much, unfortunately, to the bad things in life as well as the good things.

I Make It Happen

Most of us fall into the victim trap from time to time, even if we do not generally have the victim mindset personality.  When it happens to you do NOT ask the question “why me?”, or you are in danger of falling deeper and deeper into the victim mindset.  Instead, ask an empowering question.  Ask “what can I do to ….” – and fill in the gap depending on the circumstances.  “What can I do to make more money?”  “What can I do to attract a lovely partner?”  “What can I do to be happier?”.  I am sure you can add many more examples.  The universe always answers your questions eventually, so by asking such questions you will be finding the ways to a better life.

Move from the state of “it happens to me” (the victim state) to that of “I make it happen”.  Ask the right questions, and then make it happen by following the answers to those questions.

It Happens Through Me

Ultimately, you can then move again from “it happens to me” to “it happens through me”.  This is the state in which you are allowing universal power to flow through you and bring good things to those around you.  By doing this you will find you are doubly blessed.  You will certainly feel good being the instrument of the universe in bringing all that is good to others.  But also you will find that as you give, so you will receive.  This is a universal law which cannot be broken.

For most of us, our mindset is not a permanent fixture but a fluctuating state.  Sometimes most of us will fall into the victim mindset unless we notice it starting to happen and take action to reverse it.  Try as much as possible to be in the “it happens through me” mindset.

Don’t be taken in by those around you who try to tell you it is silly to be optimistic and the more realistic state of mind is the pessimistic one.  This is only true if you let it be true.  Don’t become a victim, but become the one who creates happiness all around and luxuriates in that happiness!

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.  The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.  Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked him what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

Manifestation and the Supernal Triad by Graham Dragon

If you really want to manifest your desires you need to use the principles expressed in the Qabalah as the Supernal Triad.

I hope you haven’t switched off at this point.  Yes, I know that unless you have studied the Tree of Life what I have just written is probably Double Dutch to you!  But bear with me – the concept is both important and easy to understand.

Before I go any further let me reassure you.  I am not saying you have to learn the basics of the Qabalah in order to manifest properly.  Rather, I am just saying that the Qabalah neatly outlines what you must do in order to manifest your desires, even if when you do so you do not realize what you are doing has a Qabalistic interpretation.

In Qabalah, the Supernal Triad is the top three “Sephiroth” of the Tree of Life.  It is the way the Supreme Being begins creation.  And used properly it is the way we, too, create reality from our inner dreams.

There are three points in the Supernal Triad, as you probably realize from the name.  They are “Kether”, “Binah” and “Chokmah”.  Some describe Kether as the Soul, Binah as the Womb into which the Soul enters, and Chokmah as the force of Creation that results when the Soul enters the Womb.  But there are also other names for these three Sephiroth, and those names show you what you need to do in order to manifest properly.

Kether, the Soul is also known as “Desire”.  Binah, the Womb, is “Imagination”.  Chokmah, Creation, is “Visualization”.

In order to manifest you must have all three in balance.  Miss out any one of the three and you will have, at best, a very lukewarm power to turn your dreams into reality.  More likely nothing will happen at all and you will walk away from the whole concept of the Law of Attraction complaining it doesn’t work.

The work of Manifestation begins with Desire.  If you do not really desire whatever it is you are dreaming of it will remain as just a dream.  Your desire has to be strong.  Like a flame in a furnace you can stoke up your desire as long as there is a spark of desire there in the first place.  But make sure you are focussed on a real dream.  Too many people think they really want to achieve something, but the desire is not strong enough simply because they have not truly identified their real dream.

Once you have fanned your Desire into a passion, it is ready to act – which it does by entering the womb of Imagination to create through Visualization.

Imagination is important.  Too many people go straight from Desire to Visualization and miss out the step of Imagination.  You need to use your Imagination to begin creating the right Visualization.  Stoke up your Desire, and then begin using your Imagination to create the right scene.  If you use your Imagination properly you will find it automatically leads to a powerful Visualization.

If you find you don’t have enough Imagination to create a vivid Visualization, such that it seems, when you close your eyes, to be as solid as the “reality” you see around you when you open your eyes, you should work on improving your Imagination.  To some people this comes naturally.  Those are the people who find the Law of Attraction works for them the moment they hear about the need to Visualize, as long as they are Visualizing something they truly Desire.  But it can also be a learned skill.  Like any other skill, you need to study it and then practise it.  One way to build your imagination is to read voraciously.  Pick authors who write powerfully, whose books are filled with descriptive paragraphs.  Read those paragraphs and then picture the scenes in your mind.  After you put the book down, re-visit the scene.  Try to see it in detail.  And don’t just see it – use all your other senses too.  Hear it.  What do you smell?  What do you feel?  If, for example, you are reading a Joseph Conrad book with the setting in a jungle in Southeast Asia, imagine yourself in that jungle.  You are so hot!  The sweat is pouring off you.  There are the smells of strange plants around you.  This really works!

I have mentioned Joseph Conrad.  Yes, his novels are now very dated.  But they are also very powerful and a great source of scenes to improve your skills of imagination.  Or try Ernest Hemingway – another now perhaps dated, but very powerful author.  John Steinbeck, perhaps.  If you are into science fiction (or maybe even if you are not!) try Ray Bradbury or Brian Aldiss.  There are very many authors who are really great at building a scene, where you can visualize what they are describing as you read.  Just remember to keep practising re-creating those scenes even when you are not reading.

Once you have gained the skill of re-creating in your mind the scenes from the books, use that same skill to Visualize whatever it is you desire.  Again, use all your senses.  As you do so, fill the scene you are Visualizing with your deep Desire to make this dream a reality.  By doing this properly you will be using the full Supernal Triad which is the Universal force of Creation, and you simply cannot fail.  You are using a Universal Law, and Universal Laws never fail.

If you wish to source any of the writers I have mentioned, try your local library.  Certainly Conrad, Hemingway and Steinbeck should be there as their works are absolute classics.  One disadvantage, though, is that you will have a limited time to practise your imagination skills.  Also, some people find it helps to highlight or underline the passages they want to visualize.  Don’t do that to a library book!

An alternative is to buy the book from a reputable source.  I have listed the particular books I think you will find the best for this exercise, and given you quick links to the cheapest copies I have found on Amazon.  Just click the link and it will take you to the right page to order it.  The first list is if you wish to pay in US$ and the second if you wish to pay in UK£.

6 Ways to Keep Life in Perspective

Here are the top six pieces of advice that can increase the quality of life and easily keep it in perspective:

1) Nothing in life has any inherent meaning; it only has the meaning you assign to it. Shakespeare once said, “There is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

You can actively change the meaning of any circumstance in your life to one that empowers you. The way to do that is by asking empowering questions. These questions will lead to empowering answers. Here are a few examples:

  • What is good about this?
  • What is funny about this?
  • How is this making me stronger or smarter?
  • How can this help me and others?

2) We become what we think about. By the law of cause and effect, what we think about in our lives, we bring about in our lives. This occurs whether we are consciously aware of our thoughts or not. This works because our thoughts are a cause set in motion. These thoughts will attract things in our lives that will allow these thoughts to manifest in physical reality. This is the basis of self-actualization. So be careful what you think about.

3) Conformity is the killer of creativity and individuality. There is nobody on the planet that is quite like you. There is also nobody who has ever lived, nor anybody who will ever live, that will be exactly like you. You are literally one-of-a-kind. You are unique.

Trying to be like anybody else, or a group of people, is an exercise in futility. Not only is it futile, but it is detrimental. The one thing you have is your individuality. Embrace it and capitalize on your personal strengths.

When the majority of people are doing something a certain way, it does not mean that it is the best way. It means that it is the average way. Strive to be excellent, not average.

4) A sense of gratitude can immediately increase your quality of life. Thinking about and being grateful for the things you have increases joy, happiness, and overall outlook on life. What you focus on expands and when you focus on what you have, you bring more of it into your life. This also cultivates an attitude of a sense of abundance. When you focus on what’s missing, you cultivate pessimism, cynicism, and quality of life goes down. This leads to a sense of scarcity and negativity.

5) Most people regret the things they didn’t do, not the things they did do. Your life is singular and finite. Take chances and enjoy life. You only live once. Make this one-time experience great, fun, exciting, and full of joy and happiness.

6) Focus on the things you can control, and do not focus on the things you cannot control. Allowing things that you cannot control to upset you will set you up for frustration and decrease your quality of life. There is absolutely no point in getting upset about things such as the weather, traffic, and other people.

Instead, focus on things you can control, and you give yourself more power and leverage to affect your life. The one thing that you can always control is your attitude.

You often cannot control your circumstances, but you can control how you decide to respond to your life circumstances.
